-It turns people into crazy anonymous tough guys.

-Most forums are a cesspool of humanity. Gaming forums are one of the worst. I cant even read any besides this place anymore. It makes me sad, and angry at the same time.

- It gives people and outlet to bitch and moan about everything and flame anybody different from themselves.

-Opinion = fact

-Makes a large amount of people become hipsters.

- Allows humanities true stupidity to come out in the open without any fear of repercussion.


I could go on and on and on. Ill tell you, gaming forums are one of the worst places for this. Places like Gamefaqs just make me want to rip out my eyeballs with a fork, and nail my dick to a burning building.

LOL! You guys crack me up. There is a reason we all come here, sure we have issues every once in awhile. But all you need to do is visit just about any other forum on the internet, and you will realize how nice this place is.

I like the internet from a technological stand point. But it still turns people into massive douche bags. Its obviously very useful as a tool, but my point still remains Smile

I agree Sim.There have been some smartasses on gamefaqs that really made me so mad if I saw them in real life I'd be in jail for a long time....

Oh yea I agree, there are diamonds in the rough for sure. Hence the people we got here. But man.......I cant even read the comments on any website on any article of any subject without feeling a white hot rage. I was reading an article on Tiki Barker on Yahoo last night, and well, it kind of sparked this topic.

I do agree that most forums are filled with jackasses and such, but there are select few that I will frequent. This is pretty much the only one anymore since the one of the other ones shut down. I'm sure that if I ever meet anyone from here IRL, we would have a good time.

A couple of my friends look to me to bail them out of fights. I don't get it as I'm a lover not a fighter. I will hurt people with ease if I'm forced to, but if I don't have to, then I won't. Things seem to go a lot better when everyone's laughing.

I tend to be an aggressive person, and have a huge problem with dis respect. It doesnt matter whom it is, I cannot stand close minded people, who openly dis respect other races, beliefs etc...

And the internet is a haven for these people. Oh and hackers, fuck em. Bunch of pussies hiding behind their computer attempting to do whatever the fuck it is they do.

Personally I have very little tolerance for stupidity and hatred. I think thats why it bugs me so much. Like Jr said, very few of those people would EVER say anything in person, and that really rubs me the wrong way.

I even had some user on gamefaqs that would stalk me and whenever I would make a topic they would come in saying smartass shit.One of their accounts was sarlaac,I forget the other....and this other guy ROFL on the xbox board really rubbed me the wrong way coming off as a pompous bastard,then was bragging in some other topic how he made such a good living working at gamestop and had his gf knocked up...wtf ever man.

Honestly, I still see the internet as a glowing bastion of technological progress and interpersonal relation. Mostly because I ignore the people in it. In real life, I live by the stance that most people are inferior to me and not worth my time (ask Peavs, he'll tell you), and it tends to keep me out of arguments since I can just walk away from most things. on the internet, it also works. Whenever I encounter a true, honest-to-life troll whoc not doing anything offenseive other than being annoying, I just get that feeling of "whatever bro, you arent worth the energy expanded"

There needs to be some sort of universal internet account... like a real life ID, and you need it to post on any sort of blog/forum/comments section.

If youre too much of an asshole/idiot, you get suspended.

Things like 4chan make me lose hope in humanity. There is a lot of ugliness, stupidity, and unoriginal thought on the internet.

There's a lot of cool shit, too, though. You just have to avoid the things that piss you off, and you're golden.

I love the internet.

Granted, there's plenty of douchebags on the internet. But I think having spent most of middle school and the past three years of high school has taught me enough to know how to deal with assholes on here. The internet has opened me up to so much more than I would've ever been exposed to in Small Town, USA, and it's had an effect on literally every aspect of my life.

Certainly, it's put me far outside of what is considered "normal" - and I hope I don't come across as a speshul snoflake for saying that - but I wouldn't change that for anything. The people I've met and befriended on the information superhighway, most of them in the past six months, are just amazing, and a lot of them are nicer and more interesting than the people I know IRL.

But then again, this is the only gaming forum I go anywhere near - one of those lessons I've learned that I mentioned. And that probably has a lot to do with it.

I actually don't really game all that much anymore. The only time I ever really sit down and game is when I'm hanging out with ducksaws or my cousins. Other than that, the last game I really played was Portal/Portal 2 (played through both in one day), and that was two weeks ago. I don't know, I just feel that gaming's too expensive of a hobby for me to keep up AND still have money left over for music/clothes/ponies etc etc.

So, no, I don't really play on the SeC server, I don't really play Tohou anymore (it's fun in really quick doses though), and I won't be getting Battlefield 3 because I not only suck at console shooters, but I don't have the money for a console, a copy of Battlefield three, or a PC that could run it.

I should probably amend that Current Games thing, huh...

Again, I'd disagree. It depends on who you know. Most of the people you randomly encounter are massive assholes, but you could say the same about any random person on the street. I try not to judge based on people I don't really know, I judge more on the basis of people I'm closer friends with.

And @Ante: It's not that bad, really. It isn't something I really miss unless something really big pops up in the news or someone else is talking about it. I'm more than happy enough with ponies and music.
