Cast "Detect Dead" around the Court Mage of Solitude. It turns out that she's a...vampire.
If you bring Dawnbreaker into Sovengarde it lights up like a light sabre. and never stops glowing
There's a Cabin smashed by a log, I forget where. In the cabin is a man named Lucky who was reading "The Lusty Argonian" while there is a statue of Dibella infront of where he was sitting
equip a pickaxe and whack at ore veins. it's faster than "press A" to mine ore. You can also dual wield to mine faster.
If you're in sneak mode you can do a Silent Roll without the perk. Works best in first person. Just sneak, walk forward while holding sprint, and hit sheath weapon. You'll do a roll. Depending on what you're holding, if you keep holding sprint.
At the Throat of the World (at the tippy top) there is a Notched Pick Axe that is enchanted with +Smithing which you can disenchant and put on 2 weapons
Removing all your apparel (down to your granniewear) in various cities, and around various NPCs, will generally yield quite comedic commentary.
Star Wars easter egg: on the northeastern edge of the map, there's an area called Bleakcoast (or something like that) Cave. The only enemies there are a few Frost Trolls. In a little alcove in the cave there's a feeding ground with a bunch of blood and bones and whatnot, and a headless/armless skeleton hanging from the ceiling by its pelvis. Thought that was pretty cool.
Candelight spells work underwater.
In Sauvegarde, if you go up to the top of the hill where Alduin was perched, there's a word wall that's been buried just enough so you can't get a word from it.
You can power-level sneak using a Torchbug in a Jar. Just crouch and walk against a wall within view of the bug; as it revolves you will periodically be hidden.
A full-powered Unrelenting Force aimed at the golden Dwemer disco ball in Blackreach will release a unique black dragon.
If you don't want to incur a bounty by killing those Imperial/Thalmor prisoner escorts, just free the prisoner. The rest will turn hostile and it won't be considered murder if you kill them.
it took me like 200 hours of gameplay before I noticed that in the skills screen, the smoky green, blue, and orange star cluster/galaxy looking things are actually a depiction of a warrior, thief and mage.
there is a cool trick to walking through walls and doors. All you need to do is grab a platter or plate, hold it flat up against a wall/door in front of you, and walk through it.
Being a Fallout man I was used to clicking the right thumbstick in order to move objects around freely (placing them round the house, etc). In this game you have to hold A on the object. I played 100+ hours before realizing this.
Shadowmarks. Many houses/shops in Skyrim have these written near the door. They are symbols written by thieves guild members which indicate the value of a home, if there's a fence inside, if a place is dangerous, etc. There's a book in the thieves guild written by Delvin that details these marks.

There's a skeleton floating beneath the bridge to Dragon's Reach.
near Whiterun, there's a small pond, and in that pond is a skeletal arm reaching up out of the water, holding up a leveled one-handed sword, in reference to Excalibur (not to be confused with the sword in the stone, which King Arthur also had, but was NOT Excalibur). I can't remember where, but outside one cave is a Steel Sword in a stone, with a group of skeletons around it.
Casting raise zombie or magelight on a dragon's skeleton will throw it pretty far. Good way to move them around.
Directly west of Saarthal there's a woolly mammoth half frozen into the ice shelf with spears and arrows sticking out of it.
if you go back to Mehrune Dagon's altar after completeing his quest (some several days later), the daedra outside and inside the altar respawn so you can get more daedra hearts from them. All the chests and ingots and stuff respawn in their too. This is great to get some free stuff so check places often that you know have what you want
Also, in Dawnstar there is an invisible chest (Here is a topic about it: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615803-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/61240036). It is near the mine in the back upper level of the town. If you face the cave, it is too almost directly the left in between the trees/rocks and the cliffside.
if you are over your weight limit and cant run or fast travel, getting on a horse will allow you to fast travel.
Werewolf Form increases your encumbrance limit.
You have to wait a full month before mining veins respawn.
Since the couriers clothes are random there is a always a chance that when he gives you your letter he will be naked
Go to merchant, look through inventory, get what you need, Save your game, kill merchant, load the save file and merchant's inventory is restocked with a fresh supply of items.
Enchanting 4 items with 25% spell cost reduction from the same school will make the spells cost 0 mana to cast.
Various Bandit journals tell of hidden treasures that are usually nearby.
Mining areas have deposits of gas...you can see this as some "wavy" effect on the screen....so don't use fire! If you would like to try and experiment...go to Gloombound mine and fire spell the cavern....may want to save....cause you may end up killing them orcs.
doing a "sheild bash" while blocking with a torch in your left hand sets the opponent on fire.
Chickens in Riverwood can witness crimes.
During the night, the PC may encounter a Headless Horseman, referencing Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". There seems to be no set spawn point for him, and can spawn anywhere between 10PM and 5AM. He appears as a headless ghost armed with a War Axe, and has a spectral horse. The PC cannot interact with him, though he may be followed. Hostile NPC's and creatures will attack him as he passes, but he ignores them. Wherever he appears, he will always make his way to Hamvir's Rest, and will disappear as soon as the player enters Hamvir's Rest and engages the hostile undead in the area. If morning comes before Hamvir's rest is reached, the Headless Horseman always speaks of an "abrupt end" to the "game", likely referring to your chasing him all over Skyrim.
There is a mourning giant in the swamps sorta near riften that wont attack you no matter how close you get
If you do make the Bard's Leap and survive, the ghost of the bard shows up to praise you, and the song the bard plays you will give you a Speech level
You can pickpocket a Forsworn Briarheart's Briarheart.
And, like most creatures that have their hearts forcefully removed, will contract a bad case of the deaths.
It's not anything important, but if you equip one arrow there will be only one in the quiver on your character's back. Same goes with two arrows...not sure the total amount, never counted.
Upon exiting the Radiant Raiment in Solitude, if you look forward, there will be a small alley between The Winking Skeever and Angeline's Aromatics. If you go towards it, there will be a barrel labeled "Thief Cache" behind a tree on the left filled with some gems and a few other things. Found it by complete accident so thought I'd share it here.
When looking at items in a chest, hitting LT (left trigger) will equip/eat the item.
If you give your follower a torch they'll use it in dark places
In the thieves guild cistern, someone is usually doing target practice on a target with steel arrows and you can go back every now and again to get a bunch of free arrows.
Companions will pick things up off the ground when you tell them to regardless of their weight limit.
