I need some help. I got a new pc today, just waiting to set it up, and I need two things from y'all.

one: how good are these parts for a mid-range pc (nothing seriously insane, but will it be good enough to game a bit?)
Diamond Radeon GD 6570 vid card
Patriot DDR2 memory (8 gigs (two cards))
Biostar T-Series motherboard (not exactly sure which model, but just in general are Biostars good?)

two: whats the easiest way to transfer everything I need on my PC (saved games, pics, music (specifically my itunes library) and my steam folder) to the new hard drive?

No the parts are not good, the only decent thing is the gpu which is not all that great. If you could give us a little more info about the pc that would be great. (like what kind of cpu). In regards to transfering the easiest way is to get a external hard drive and copy all of your music and such onto it and then transfer to the new pc, or if your old hard drive is good just use that in your new pc.

seriously? that blows. Oh well. Can't be worse than what I have now. And I'll post the specs when I set it up and can do a diagnostic.

I was told that I couldn't use my old hard drive, since the current one (the 80 gig thats already in it) is preconfigured to it.

As long as your old HDD isn't IDE, you can just plug it into a new motherboard.

If it has a cable that looks like a super fat fruit by the foot, you'll need an adapter if you're going to be using a newer motherboard.

Yah I forgot about how OEM hard drives are set up. Using an external drive to transfer is most likely your best option. You could always just install it as a second hard drive but I would still suggest reformating it.

yea IDE is what old school computers used,my desktop from 2001 used it Razz ...in 2003 I think they switched to SATA,it's just how the HDD connects

yeah what CPU?

I think it looks decent, but dunno without the cpu.It really depends on what you wanna play.new stuff might really struggle.

I can play new vegas on my single core 1.99ghz w/3gb ram,and ati hd4200 graphics.walmart laptop Razz so I'm sure your custom desktop could do decent

DDR2 is pretty outdated at this point. Just curious, where did you buy this stuff from?

Ah, thanks for the explanation. Though I'm rather disappointed by the graphic card and stuff being bad, I was hoping to get back into TF2, maybe give LoL another chance.

I didn't Ante, its from a spare work computer my dad had. It has 4x the memory of my current one though.

You will be able to play TF2 and LoL just fine on low or medium if you are planning to game at 1080p.

Yeah it lagged like a mofo for me, so I gave up on it. But this computer seems to be pretty sweet. And yeah, the memory, video card, motherboard, cpu and other components outstrip everything from my old PC. I even managed to get the old hard disk in, albeit not as my primary.

I can run it just fine, it's just I have these amazingly annoying lag spikes that get me killed. I see the ping bar filling up in a teamfight and I see Irelia walking into the enemy.

I don't know how that happens, I see everything like how everyone else sees it (them comboing me and me laughing it off with res) but I can't control them to kill before dying.
