BF3 vs. MW3 [No hate, or flame warring]

First off, let me say that this is 100% subjective and that I want no fanboying here. I've played both BF3, and MW3, and these are purely my own opinions.

BF3

Pro:
Undoubtedly a fantastic, wonderful game. The visuals are amazing, the sound is as close to perfect as I've ever heard. The leveling seems pretty awesome, and the amount of choice in the game is fantastic. It was tons of fun playing initially.

Con:
I feel bored in it constantly. I played the objective player, the slayer, and everything in between. I experimented with the classes but it just wasnt gripping. And in my opinion the scale of the maps was ridiculous, especially if you were on a pub team and all the vehicles were taken/destroyed. I hate the sway problems I had with the sniper rifles, and in all honesty I felt like it didnt live up to the hype. Bad Co. 2 is amazing and I still love it, though I play it less. I loved the sniping, the objectives, the maps, literally everything rocked. But BF3 failed to follow that up for me.


MW3

Pro:
Everything that is familiar from the CoD series, with a little bit of new stuff mixed in. The newer weapons are in my opinion awesome. The sniping feels damn near perfect, so that you don't have random assholes running around quickscoping, because it actually takes a bit of skill now. The secondary setup is perfect now that you cant have a fucking spas12 as a secondary. The pacing is right for me (I like the fast, twitch response intensity), the new game modes are awesome (infection is shit tons of fun) and all over I like this game. You're not so dependent on the team for personal success.

Cons:
"Everything that is familiar from the CoD series, with a little bit of new stuff mixed in." This game is MW2 v2.0. The challenges are almost the same, the gun mechanics feel nearly identical, and the game as a whole feels just like MW2. Not bad in most respects, but I have the feeling that it'll get repetitive. Also, some guns are hideously overpowered (Type 95 *cough cough*) and there are plenty of assholes in the games.



Overall, I have to go back to my roots as a CoD player. It feels better for me personally, though both games are exceptionally good.

I like BF3 better. Love the fact that anything can happen in any game. Team work is always a must in any of the modes really (with the exception of Team Death Match). CoD has been a stale experience from the first time that I played BC2. Like you said, CoD is a lot faster pacing and twitch. I like to play a game that takes some skill instead of run and gun. Strategy is a lot more fun to use as well. CoD just really seems like the same game every year, just a different name/number attached to it.

i play battlefield because COD is not a challenge

i quit COD when i went 74-0 (not fun when you aren't challenged)

COD does not promote team work, the environment is not destructible and there are no vehicles

i look at battlefield and cod the way i look at forza and burnout

burnout is a fun racing arcade game but if i want a challenge i'd play forza because it is a simulator

Secret to having fun in battlefield is vehicles (at least for conquest)... The only maps you can really pull off on foot are Op metro, Grand Bazaar, Seine Crossing, and maybe Tehran Highway/Damavand Peak.

On any of the other maps youre going to get slaughtered by vehicles (no fun at all) and be marathoning in between objectives.

Rush is easeier to pull off on foot as the action is generally more focused.

also, dont even try to play alone on any map besides Metro/Bazaar. if no one else is online I just turn my xbox off/play another game. i guess thats the advantage of CoD, its easier to have fun playing by yourself.

After actually playing MW3 a week or two ago when they had a free weekend on Steam, OMFG BATTLEFIELD. Though opinions on gameplay are mostly subjective, MW3 is technically inferior in every single way. It had been a while since I played a CoD game, so I forgot how bad the audio was and the graphics were ugly too and the framerate was extremely choppy for some reason, even though it wasn't challenging my graphics card much at all. It didn't even look like it was playing at 1080p.
Pretty much the only thing I applaud CoD on is that it seems relatively glitch-free compared to BF3, though I guess what else could you expect when they've been using the same engine since CoD4 (or longer...?).
I was much more forgiving towards MW3 before, you know, actually playing it.

Battlefield.I suck at twitch shooters pretty much.I like the teamwork and strategy of BF.I used to like BC2 better but now I like BF3 better.It's alot more fun when you play with people instead of randoms.Like for me,I won't even play BF3 with randies anymore.....makes me rage quit

I definitely prefer BF3, although I haven't gotten around to playing it much, but there are some things that MW3 does better.

BF3 is really glitchy for one, the sound of certain things like tanks randomly cut out, images don't appear on progress screens(you'd think this would be easy to do), and a few other things. There are also times on it when it is very hard to find a good game, like when everyone is running away with all the vehicles and giving them to the enemy. Being on a steamrolling team isn't all that much fun either.

MW3 is just old for me. It's the same as CoD4 really, which I liked for a while but by now I don't really care for it. I mean I'll play it at my friends but I find it a little frustrating. Pretty entertaining, but still frustrating. And the campers on it bother me so much more since you can't just spot them and launch 24 players worth of explosives through the wall they are sitting next to.

CoD skillgap is too low. What with the auto-aim, potentially exploitable combos (OMA-DC-tube/MW2, Scav-explosives). It's trying to be the CS of consoles but fails due to AOE OHK, KS snowballing, other things.

The general rule in CS was "don't buy the AWP." In CoD there are no real rules, no way to limit exploited combos. I enjoyed CoD4 promod because it was quite a bit more fair than the regular modes.

I recently played Black ops and i actually had some fun just because no one was playing bf3, cod is fun to play if you want to kill some time and have fun by yourself. I was matched up against a clan(in cod) and we still managed to win just because i was going about 16>5 every match. In bf3 its way harder to win if you don't have a competent team and your playing by yourself.

You need teamwork to have fun in Battlefield(with the exception of TDM)
You can have an awesome time playing by yourself in cod.

BF and CoD have very similar amounts of aim-assist.

I have NEVER had BF drag my aiming reticule drag my screen 90 degress to tell me a person was coming around a corner.

I've had BF's aim assist drag me around several times.

Oh, that isn't the problem.

Because of the way the modes and maps works, aim assist in CoD helps you win the game moreso than in BF. If you took 2 groups of people, made one turn off aim assist, the other one would probably win the game in CoD.

Kills aren't as central in most BF modes, so the non assist side can still win with flags, M-coms, vehicles, and such. Vehicles don't have aim assist last I checked.

They could be the same for all I care. It's not going to help a Recon at long range, or a chopper team, or a suppressor Support. Aim assist has more of a potential impact on the score of a CoD game, by a larger margin of the ticket/M-com count of a BF game.

And as I said, this is my SUBJECTIVE opinion. I'm saying that BF3 is an amazing and beautiful technical game, but I just don't find it exciting or challenging. I can hop in a tank and just rape, and in all honest it gets boring. I prefer the fast pace of CoD, to the point that the repetitiveness doesn't matter. And with my friends, we just troll through the pub matches and stomp noobies, so I don't complain with that. And weirdly I've had all of three connection issues so far since I got MW3, and I remember having 7 connection drops in the first hour on BF3

I've always thought CoD was tons of fun. MW3 is the first one that I haven't bought. Simply because BF3 was so freakin' awesome that I had no urge to play another shooter (or even another game). It looks like a lot of fun though.

However the second CoD (or a BF game) comes out for the Vita I'll be all over it.

BF3 glitches the game audio out for me and alot of other people alot of the time,like,all you can hear is the party chat.The in game sound will be completely gone.Happens randomly on maps,mostly outdoor maps,but I remember on Metro as well.....


whatever happened with destructible environments in MW3?It was supposed to be this big selling point but I never heard anything else about it.....

does it still have those wager modes and stuff from Black Ops?

My bro has MW3 but I've never played it...

I guess my problem was,I could shoot people a bunch and they wouldn't die,but they kill me in a split second.

i was disappointed in bf3, bf3 could have taken the cod route where they copy paste their game (bc2) with a few improvements and sold it succesfully. they tried to improve things and made them worse and took alot of the fun out

didnt buy mw3 but i saw enough of it to see that they copy pasted too much. they have major flaws to fix in every game they put out. mw3 was glitchy as hell. i saw a guys youtube channel that put out a video every other day about game breaking glitches (tehlazor if you wanted to see it)

gears was going to step it up, BUT they made it so that if you don't buy one dlc you dont get dedicated severs? thats cheap. i sort of forgive them because most of their game is fine except for the GOD DAMNED SAWD OFF INSTAGIB NOOB CANNON THAT NOBODY LIEKS

BC2 all the way, that game is still pretty good minus server problems and less full games

yeah thats the problem isnt it? it didnt get to play on servers?

I always played on Ranked matches when I had it....a little horde here and there but the cry babies would always quit if we lost 1 round so I quit playing it lol

never really had lag problems even on horde thinking about it,it was alot better than Gears 1 or 2

I play Gears 3 constantly guys. On Quick Match, which means that even though I have all the DLC, I still have no servers.

And I can tell you that it is still pristine. I have better connection in Gears 3 than in BF3.

I wouldn't mind getting Gears again for something new to play now that I think about it
