1good screen capture software? Empty good screen capture software? 2012-03-08, 10:52

Anyone familiar with decent screen capture software? I have a youtube channel project in the works and I'll need to record what's going on on my screen for the videos so if any of you guys can recommend me something that would be awesome since I don't have two clues what's good/not.

Fraps for ease of use, Dxtory for efficiency/control. Fraps makes big bulky videos, but dxtory can be a little tricky to use.

Pretty much this. I only use it because it's so simple, but it really does hog resources like no other. If you have the time to sit down and tinker with settings, Dxtory is much, much better.

well memory use shouldn't be an issue as I'm not trying to capture a memory intensive program but I'll check out Dxtory as well and see if I can figure it out. Hopefully it isn't too complicated. I've never really messed around with video stuff. Audio has always been my domain.

I use FRAPS, and have not noticed any memory leaks. Hmm maybe I should pay more attention haha.

so I tried fraps...keep getting frame rate drops to zero every few seconds so that's not going to work Evil or Very Mad

I'm setting up Dxtory now but I don't know if that will work either since it says it's only for direct x/open gl programs.

edit: yup doesn't work. any ideas? Or am I shit out of luck?

well I was able to get fraps working at a staggering 5-8 fps without any drops to zero. God my computer sucks.

Well it's a laptop with integrated graphics so I'm guessing that's the problem. And yeah it is kinda crappy but I don't think I have the scratch for a new PC so I guess I'm shit out of luck for the moment.

yeah that's what I figured...oh well I guess I'll just have to use a static image for a vid. The audio is the important thing anyways.

I just use hypercam...he's just doing a little project and hypercam is free and simple and won't kill your computer >.<
