For me it was a fight between Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout.

Fallout's lore isn't as big or as massive as the other two's. But its still full of quality. I mean Vault-Tec, the vault experiments, and The Enclave is just outright awesomely evil and disgusting that it became the game winner for me. Plus I get a boner from mostly anything post-apocalyptic.

Another honorable mention goes to the lore of Bioshock.

Probably either Elder's Scroll or Half Life.

Elder's Scrolls has like 7 books worth of lore in every game. In HL you have to study the shit out of the game to even know what the fuck is going on. Which is pretty neat.

Warcraft has tons upon tons of amazing lore to read through.

Mass Effect is awesome because the whole universe just feels plausible.




Probably a tie between those two.

Lord of the Rings has thousands of years of lore and history. Plus a fully written and usable language.

Terry, not sure if you could qualify Lord of the Rings as "game universe" since the books have been around long before gamin, but if so, I'm with you there. And I'm currently trying to find my old Tengwar notebook

True, but the movies have been around for a shorter time than the books, and the LotR series is comparatively ancient.

You guys measure age with the metric system though, so you sound older Razz

Either way, I am proud to say that Manila is made of the very same awesome fibers that I consist of. Though he didn't go through the crucible that was my upbringing that forged me into the wonderous individual that I am today. he is at the very least worthy of being mentioned as a substitute for me.

Mass Effect hands down. They actually have some aliens that aren't just pallet swapped humans, like elcor and hanar. Mass Effect eezo tech is so damn original and cool.

Elder Scrolls is just generic Tolkien fantasy rip off. Dwarves, elves, humans, magic etc.

Warcraft is pretty much the same story, minus the burning legion and undead. But then Warcraft is just ripped off of Warhammer along with Starcraft. Halo is ripped off of Starcraft/Warhammer as well.

Fallout doesn't really have a universe. It's just your average post apocalyptic world, only with a 50's twist to it.

Starwars just has too many plotholes and inconsistencies also jar-jar binks.

Thats why I said that Fallout isn't as big or as expanded as other universes. But its backstory involving the Enclave and Vault-tec and the experiments with the Vaults is just downright beautiful.

If any of you have played the original 2 Fallout's you would know how deep the Enclave's back story is. Them and Vault-Tec are some of my all time favorite video game villains;.
