Made my first good trade in TF2. Paper Hat for a Soldier's Stash and Strange Big Earner. I think it was a good trade, I probably could've gotten more out of the guy but I didn't want to be a jerk.

Pretty good. I think you got a two refined profit overall. How long did it take you to find a trade?

Well I just upgraded to premium the other day, so I guess 2 days. I wasn't looking for it though, some guy randomly sent me a trade request looking for the hat. Now I might go try selling those on a trade server.

You got lucky. Normally when you wanna trade an item, you'll have to spend a long while on a trade server, unless it's a popular item.

Stupid question: I kinda want to use the strange big earner, but will getting kills with it lower its value or anything? Or do the kills not save when you trade it?

Kills are reset upon trading. Using it won't change it's value in any way. Although you may want to reconsider, since the Big Earner is a big piece of doggy doodoo.

True enough. I only have a few stranges, and most of them I don't even use. But it would be cool to be one of those guys that have 10,000+ with a single weapon.

Oops, made my first mistake too. Traded a key for Dragonborn Helm, forgetting that it wasn't genuine. Ah well, I might be able to sell it for 3 ref to somebody who's not paying attention

S. BE is about 0.33 ref, and S. Bat is 0.22-0.33, so you broke even.

And yeah, Genuine Dragonborn is worth three keys, not sure about non-genuine. You kinda got screwed there :p

Yea, non-genuine is 2 ref. Key is 2.44-2.55. I might be able to find a way to break even.

Assuming it's a clean Soldier's Stash (valued 1.44-1.66) he made a bit less, maybe around 1 ref profit.

I bought a strange Machina a while ago (don't ask the cost) and named it Kira. It's gonna be my first 10k+ gun.

Wacco, hate to break it to you, but the strange bat is a really low price item. It sells for a scrap or two, not as much as big earner.

Yea, I've gotten very bad at doing trades lately. I lost track of where I'm at now, but it's whatever. I've got that Dragonborn and a Dillinger's Duffel to sell which should get me some good profit.

Hey Crow, you know anyone that's looking for a Bird-Man? I've hit a few trade servers, but got either no results, people trying to scam me, or people offering me junk. I think it dropped down to only 1.5 keys, but I'm looking if I can get anyone to buy it for two. If not, I'll happily settle for 1.5

Sorry mate, that thing is not going to sell that high. Right now the price is still unstable, most people are buying around 1.66-2. I'd recommend holding onto it, maybe selling off in the future.

the Bird-Man is following the usual pattern for new miscs. It spikes in value as it comes out, gains a little popularity, but most of the time, it's value drops rapidly once a different item becomes more popular (in this case ballonicorn). The misc may either become a curio, worth a rather obscure sum due to lack of demand, or it may become so commonplace that no one wants it.

Dude, even I sometimes get lost when it turns to unusual hats. The prices are so different, with like different tiers for effects and the hats themselves, and some of them make like no sense.

That's one of the reason I've never gotten into TF2 trading seriously. It's so bloody confusing and prices change more often than a... something witty.

I actually like it. It's a total shark pool out there. If you're not careful with your sales, you will get ripped to pieces by better traders. I've reached the point where I can start to accept losses and roll with them, but that's still something I hate. Honestly, the only thing you need to profit is total patience and control. Never sell for less than you bought, and always find the best buyer/seller.

Example: I sold a new key for 3 new items (2 hats + misc) and a strange equalizer. I traded the misc for another hat. Now I traded one hat + s. equalizer + sweets for a hat worth 2-3 ref (the value of the key itself). Voila, 2 hats profit.
