PS3 and "installing"

So I have been messing around with the PS3 we got, and my god is this thing slow at doing almost anything. I can understand things like load times and the store lagging for a few seconds. What I cant understand though, is the god awful installing and download times. The PSN store is just so slow. What it takes 20 minutes to download on my computers takes 4 hours on here. Then there is the installing. My god, it took me 3 hours of installing and downloading updates to even play GT5. Absolute insanity. At least the games I have played have been great so far.

that's the reason I didn't get one. Took hours to download a fucking 1gb game off psn for psp. bleh.

well the main reason was I didn't feel like buying another headset just for ps3 lol

What the fuck sony. So I downloaded littlebigplanet 2 off of psn (with my 30 day ps+ trial) and it seems that even when you download something off of psn, it is not fully updated. Now I have to wait an hour before I can play. At least god of war has been a ton of fun. Uncharted 1 has been good so far, but I despise all of the shooting in the game.

PS3 I liked for the games...but the installing (and the blue ray movie thing) ... my god I sold it for that reason. I loved the PS2 too.

yea it's stupid it takes hours to "download" then it takes as much time if not LONGER to "install" the damn game >__>

supposedly because sony didn't give the game companies a limit on their updates like MS did. I mean I hate hate hate paying for xbl ,but.....it's worth it for the fast updates

it'll depend if I even get the ps4 if it still has this crap update system

Yes.
The multitude of super-slow updates and install times etc... are just a couple of the reasons the PS3 would top my "all time worst" systems list.

Gotta love Sony's half-assed, horrible design. Everything they do feels like it was designed by 4 separate committees that don't communicate at all, and then they take that jumble and super-glue it together, sell it to you, then patch it after the fact to see if they can get it working.

I also agree with you about Uncharted. Awesome game marred by far to much shooting. Far to much to make sense in the context of the characters and story at least.
Uncharted 2 and Uncharted GA are the same way.

Uncharted 3 made is work really well.

MAG Was a really good idea. Sony just botched the execution of it.

I give the PS3 some credit, it was a decent system. It's not really good, but it's not completely awful. And if you ask me, the controller is better than the XBOX controller. Especially the joysticks.

I really like the Uncharted series...

never played it....hell slim ps3's are pretty cheap now days...might snag one off amazon lol
