The Medal of Honor series is now "out of rotation," EA announced during its third quarter financial call. Following Medal of Honor: Warfighter's poor commercial and critical reception in October, EA is taking Medal of Honor out of commission.

"The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers," EA COO Peter Moore said. "Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings."

EA Labels president Frank Gibeau said EA missed the mark, and the marketplace, with Medal of Honor: "We're in a hit-driven business where it's about what you can build in a certain period of time and really deliver for the marketplace, and frankly we missed on Medal of Honor. And we take responsibility for that."

Gibeau continued, "If you look at Medal of Honor as a specific case, it was really about a hit missing."

EA's remaining shooter repertoire includes the Battlefield and Bad Company franchises.

I don't think Warfighter deserved anything like the shit that was flung at it. Sure, it's not breaking any boundaries but it's solid enough - it also has some of the best and most satisfying firing and movement mechanics of any modern military shooter I've played, which is a huge driving force in a game where that's basically all you're tasked in doing.

The multiplayer, also, is genuinely great. Having been burned out on BF3 and not a great fan of COD, it's scratched that modern military itch easily.

It's flawed, of course, but I'd say a solid 7/10 easily - nothing like 3s or 4s, or claims of it being 'broken' or whatever.

And so I think this end result is a bit of a shame, if somewhat inevitable given the reaction the game received.

If anything does make it through, I hope it's the knee-drop slide mechanic, cause it's genuinely useful, makes sense, and is also pretty fucking boss. I genuinely miss it when I go to play something else (especially Frostbite bro BF3). If BF4 doesn't have it, I'll be pretty pissed actually Neutral

it was in GRAW1 too. i do miss being able to slide into a crouch straight from sprint. it made you feel badass even if there was no reason to be doing it Razz

Yeah, forgot about GRAW - it's also in GR:FS now I think of it. And...Crysis...and.....BRINK! Cool

I never thought it was the first game to ever think of the idea, haha! But I do think it's something that should be standard in...just about any game, actually.

One thing I have noticed this last couple years is a nice progression in player movement (specifically in fps titles) making it more dynamic and giving better options - mantelling, sliding, parkour.....etc. It's a nice natural progression and I'm all aboard.

Oh, and Sym I said no 4s dammit! Razz
