No I've made a lot of profit, but there's so many idiots you have to wade through to find good buys/sells.

I'll assume you're talking about TF2. In which case, I agree wholeheartedly. Absolutely killed the fun of the game for me, the obsession ran way too deep. But for playing a game, the money was good.

You can make money playing TF2?

What in gods name?

How do I not know this?

How do you accomplish said thing?

Either by getting lucky or sharking. Any other method takes months just to make any sort of profit (besides scamming).

Not all luck, but yes Tom is right. You buy low and sell high (you can be legitimate about it, I'm staying in the backpack price range). But yes, it takes months if you ever want to reach a point of making profit in actual money. I've been pretty successful though. I've went from a craft hat worth of metal yesterday, to about 5 ref tonight.

I started selling spare weapons I had and buying shitty hats. Then I'd wear them around competitive servers and sell them. I made a decent bit of profit from that, which I invested in Strange-quality weapons (There are different ranks). I made most of my work in Stranges, though expanding into item-value trades was a good idea. Eventually, I got to the point where I was trading 5-10 keys worth of value per trade (to put that into normal-people terms, that's roughly 7.50 to 15$). I had bought a full-coloured collection of my favourite hat, as well as an unusual, tier version of it with my preferred effect. I ended up getting bored, selling all of my items and shit, then droppping the money into paypal.

Scratch that, I just checked my backpack and I still have a load of stuff left. Fuck. This is getting my trading compulsion up. Bob, wanna buy a ton of hats? I'll give you a good deal.

Kitsune

Kitsune

That depends on what you have, I'll take a look. Smile

Something tells me you like the Desert Marauder... xD

Also, the only thing I'd currently would be the Sultan's Ceremonial as a craft hat to sell. Unfortunately, I would have to fast-buy it for 1.22 to make any profit on it, so I'd just hold onto it if I were you. Smile

Hell, I'd sell you everything tradable for 15$. I'm done trying to chase profit.

I have no money xD Otherwise, I might be tempted. Your backpack is currently worth about $40

I know, that's exactly why. I'm offering it on outpost for about 25-30. I do need at least 15-16, since I wanna buy something online. I could theoretically get more, but it's not worth the time.

Kitsune

Kitsune

Yeah, it's always. How much do you want for something vs. the amount of time you're willing to wait to sell it. I make less profit per sale on items, but I get sales far faster than other people. Some people may wait days to buy something like #216 for instance at .33, then re-sell it for 1.33, and make a ref. I bought mine awhile ago for .66, and sold for 1 ref, and I sold both within 2 hours. It's more fair, and I get sales faster, so I see it as a win/win Very Happy

Pariah

Pariah

Same as I. when I was still trading, I often went less than 2 hours with most everything, including bills/unusuals.

Kitsune

Kitsune

Yeah, and it makes trading a lot more fun, instead of endless hours of just waiting.

Pariah

Pariah

At this point, I can't play TF2 though. It's just become a chore to play through it, even competitive matches are boring.

Kitsune

Kitsune

You've only played 366 hours?

Pariah

How is this a statement of "only"? I didn't need the time to work my way I up, and after that much trading I'm happy with the money I made.

Pariah

Pariah

Sold the rest of my crap for 30$. Winsauce.

Kitsune

Kitsune

I mean't that as far as competitive standpoint. If you want a challenge, you could always try out for a 6's or highlander team. Most players in iron have about 300-500 hours, and higher level players can have 2000-5000+ hours, and they're ridiculous, lol.

Nice, I have no idea how trading with PayPal works, but I'd always worry about getting scammed somehow.

Pariah

Pariah

I just blew all of that money buying a pound and a half of dice to distribute to my Pathfinder group, so I think this was a successfuly venture. xD

I didn't play in tournaments, when I say competitive play, I typically mean playing the game itself as opposed to trading, just at a somewhat more challenging level. I consider the Highlander games, but I realized there was no point to it. The game lost so much of its interest when I stopped trading.

Kitsune

Kitsune

Really? I love TF2 other than Pyro's and Minisentries (and random crits, but you can go to servers that turn them off, lol). I actually really don't like trading that much, I just want a circling flames or eerie orbiting fire Swagman's Swatter.

Pariah

Pariah

Dude, that will take ages to get. Circling Flames is a high-tier effect on it, the Eerie is a lot lower but it'll still set you back 5 buds.

Kitsune

Kitsune

Actually, circling flames is only 1.2-1.4 right now, and the Eerie orbiting fire is 4.7-5.9. It must be a special case for this hat.

Pariah

Pariah

You're going off of backpack.tf prices. The mistake there is that their prices are VERY variable. It might list it as 4.7 minumum, but you're unlikely to find someone selling under the midpoint.

Kitsune

Kitsune

Yeah, you always assume people are selling at maximum price or slightly above. Either way, the reason the Swagmans' Circling Fire are cheaper is because there are so many of them, and they aren't the most desirable thing for a sniper hat. Funny enough, for snipers, everybody loves massed flies, for some God forsaken reason, lol.

Pariah

Pariah

The reason flies is so valuable for snipers and no one else is due to the nature of the character. Since the effects are rather flashy, and countersnipers can use that to home in on a headshot. At a distance, massed flies is extremely nondescript, almost invisible, and thus valuable.

Kitsune

Kitsune

Yep, but to me, the point of an unusual is to show off, not hide it, lol. The only one I wouldn't use on sniper, is sunbeams, because that would be really ridiculous. I play a lot of huntsman sniper, but I do use the rifle as well, but I play a lot more aggressively. It's not uncommon to see me on the point with everyone else a lot, lol.

Pariah

Pariah

It's still supposed to be a practicable item. My Moon Marauder wasn't, that's why I never used it in games.

Kitsune

Kitsune

I always viewed unusuals as just a way to show off, lol, If i wanted to hide, I'd just play spy, which is kinda why I always thought spy unusuals were kind of a waste of time, because nobody ever really gets to see them that often.
