Im personally not a huge fan, but my wife played the crap out of it.

Its basically a 2-d minecraft boiled down its most basic elements.

It's also got some Metroidvania mechanics if you're into that. I put about 30 hours into it.

Gameplay wise, the start is really like Minecraft, after that, it's pretty much what Ante said. The game is a lot more combat-focused than Minecraft, but if you like making things, the 2-D is somewhat limited, though you can still make some very neat looking stuff on there.
