Since college is starting in 2 days, I moved in fully last night, and organized/cleaned up my room. I'm living in a co-ed fraternity, second floor room. It's not that small, 9.5x10.5, and theres a nice big window in it. The best part is location, its right next to the lake front, and to the State St. (main street in madison, goes right from the Capitol Building to the edge of campus. The only real issue is heat, the room can become a sauna with my PC on full blast.

Here are a few pics I took:
Closet, with the "Home Sweet Home" bear my sister gave me:
The most important part:
Bed and window:
Food and RPGs:
little sitting area, the chest is totally full of my books:

now, the great travesty. I had to give up my ethernet cord, since the house only has wifi capability. I've been forced to rely on a little Netgear adapter dongle, I was expecting total shit. And to be fair, the connection does drop randomly. And I've yet to see what happens when all 26 people are online, but it typically ranges at between 6 mbps and 25. Late at night, I'll have a great connection I think. That, and if it falls too much, my dad showed me how to use my phone as a wireless hotspot, and I get something like 30 on that.

Yeah. It is. Its the Delta Theta Sigma fraternity, been on this campus longer than any other. The thing is, they have a "Little Sisters" program for the fraternity, so they are allowed to join. They have both Brothers and Sisters in the frat.

The WiFi is alright late at night, and that's when I'd actually NEED it. I do most of my work under moonlight anyways, so it's not that big a worry for now.

Lovin, I'm the last thing from calm. I nearly had a nervous breakdown while packing. The thing that helped was that I moved over the majority of stuff last weekend (bed/table/drawers) and painted the walls. I'm calm right now because I've taken a really regimented approach to it, and I'm forcing myself down. I've already made a spreadsheet to track expenses, and I've found the cheapest places to buy cereals/milk/other essentials.

College/uni is a great time so anyone attending be sure to take full advantage. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and have fun. Just make sure you're able to buckle yourself down when you need to.

I had a pretty bad time as a freshman because I was ill prepared for all that freedom and thinking that I could get by on my high school study tactics. If you want to do well you need to put in that extra effort. Read chapters before class, take notes while the teacher is lecturing, make sure you do assigned work on time because no one will hound you for it to get done...it's all up to you.

Well, now I'm concerned as hell with classes. Turns out my history session was cancelled due to low sign-up, and I have to figure out how to get into another session by Tuesday. And I doubt anyone is working tomorrow.

I sent out an email to the organizer for that class, as well as my advisors, asking for some help. gonna see what happens there.

At my uni there's a grace period of 2 weeks for signing up and switching classes. Also they can open up a spot in a class that is full if it's a required class for you and your schedule doesn't allow for one of the other time slots.

you guys pick your own classes right?

I had sleep apnea and minor depression throughout my first year of college...my parents where 3000+miles away and nearest family was 300-400miles away.... that was an uncle.. who I saw maybe 3 times that year?.

Second year was a lot better, lived in an apartment not rez and that was probably the best.

My first 3 weeks have been pretty solid. Keeping up in classes and shit . And I'm not at all worried about being homesick.

My 2 roommates are playing FIFA right now, one of them is really drunk the other on 4 Xanax and 2 ambiens. I'm having fun just watching them
