Pretty interesting game form the looks of it.

For $15 you get the full game when released, concept art, wallpapers, audio, and more, and early access on steam.

Survival co-ops are always nice to play with a buddy. I'll check it out more once I get home, see if it's my thing.

I would never do it, unless I was completely, absolutely sure. I was tempted to give some money to Torment: Tides of Numenera, since it's a reputable studio with a bunch of talented people thrown in the mix.

But I'd rather just wait for the game to come out.

Is Matt Damon in it?

I'm still not sure what I think about kickstarters.

-On the one hand I can see how it cam help get a small project or indie title off the ground that simply wouldn't have happened otherwise..

-However, on the other hand, I feel that it is mostly lazy fuck-tard worthless scumbags that should be stirring up their own funding the traditional way instead of whining and begging for money from gamers like a cracked-out meth head giving hand jobs for a fix and begging for change on the corner with a sign full of lies. The majority probably deserve to be stabbed in the neck more than they deserve your $10. I say fuck them. Fuck their families. And fuck whoever started this bullshit kickstarter trend in the first place. They should all die in agony.

Yeah I'm really leery of game kickstarters. I've only ever backed one thing and it was a localish band recording an album and I only supported them to support the local scene. If I want a game that's being kickstarted I'll just wait for it to come out.

I've actually supported a few game kickstarters, usually since at that moment I have a few dollars spare in my PayPal account. Most recently, I backed a system-rewrite style book for Pathfinder, that dealt with changing up magic from the traditional Vancian format. And there are a lot of cool kickstarters, for example the guys who made Awesomenauts are currently crowdfunding a huge expansion onto it.

Yeah, I've chipped in on a couple myself. I have no problem with them really, but I don't like seeing established devs using it. Leave it to indies and start-ups.

I've thought about it but never done it...you can usually get the game for a decent discount for kickstarting it though

the game that inspired Fallout and the 2 games being made by the Torment studio I want to get...but I fear may never get to once bf4 comes out lol

I think that established devs are ok, as long as they're still small sized. DICE for example, would be terrible.

But Torment would probably be very hard to do with a publisher, for example. It's a very niche game. And the studio isn't huge, so it works.

You think? Maybe you're right.

I might just be biased because Farsight Studios keeps running kickstarters to add DLC tables to the game they currently have for sale (Pinball arcade.) and it kind of pisses me off.

I don't even know who those are.

But yeah, if it's a big developer that does mass appeal games, I don't see the point. Kickstarter is great for niche games and those are usually done by small-mid sized studios.

A game I'm currently playing was kickstarted I think (Expeditions Conquistador), and it's pretty damn good. However, it's obviously very niche. I would be surprised if it ever gets to 100,000 sales and I doubt most publishers would go for it without dumbing it down to trained chimp levels. Another good example is FTL.

Kickstarter is so easy to abuse though, so it has a bit of stigma there. I remember some story about a transexual making shit up about being sick with... something, and that he needed money for the medical operations/medicine so he could live. Made up some sob story to appeal to people and the social justice warriors (not that those needed it Razz). Turns out it was a bunch of bullshit and he just wanted to get his dick cut off so he was scamming people to pay for his operation. There were some suicide threats too, so the guy was obviously fucked in the head. I can't exactly remember all of it, but it should be in Destructoid's archive.

Ed: Well, I'm actually interested in Contagion. It looks pretty good.

Then, the Gr- er, Pariah money collection didn't generate as much as expected?
