I played that guitar so much the last two days my entire fingers are going numb, lol.

Oh well, sacrifices must be made! Plus I'm starting lessons next week so I might as well get used to it.

Someone give me hope that it gets easier!

All this practice will strengthen up you fingers and you will be able to play for longer periods.

Acoustic's strings usually hurt my fingers more than electric, for obvious reasons. I usually switch between the two when I play for a long period.

My skills are very limited right now, haha. I just started playing a few weeks ago.I'm afraid to switch to the electric cause my roommate said that's how he shredded his fingertips, literally - his electric has razor thin strings.

you just need to push through it. It's going to suck at first but your fingers will toughen up. I went through a similar thing with martial arts.

When your fingers begin to hurt, just push past it a LITTLE bit, then stop. It also depends on what part of your fingers hurt. If it's the tips, because they're getting torn up, definitely stop when it begins to hurt, and take a break for a while/day. You'll get blisters if you don't, which take MUCH longer to heal up/get rid of than waiting for your fingers to heal a little bit. Trust me, nothing sucks like trying to play videogames with a blister on one of your thumbs.

Yea I went through a similar thing with drinking beer. You just have to push through those first 6. One day you graduate to the big boy cup!

Ya guitar will hurt your fingers for a while. Electric isn't bad but it also depends on the gauge of the stirngs. I don't like acustic it hurts more to me. But I don't play guitar anymore.

If your strings are old or too tight they will mess with your fingers hardcore. Makes it so they're too stiff, sharp, and hard to press down hard enough to make a note.

We have Battlefield, I've just never played it haha. And I doubt they would, can't be anything I haven't heard already xD

Nice xD Gotta know, I have four brothers, I have almost zero female friends, and I live with two guys. I'm used to it. I can talk shit with the best of them, lol. Never played Battlefield before and I generally suck at FPS so I can imagine it would be an interesting disaster to see me try, haha.

I know I tried to do some Chuck Berry sliding on the thinnest string and it almost cut my finger open. I need some new strings.

This thread makes me wish I could play an instrument. I just never had the passion to stick with any.

Guitar is just plain fun. It's awesome being able to play songs you love.

I miss having that passion. For me, it's become more of a chore to practice. Don't take lessons, it makes it feel like it's work. When I tried learning by myself I was much more excited and played a lot more. I might just stop taking lessons soon, I'm getting to the point where it's just not getting me anywhere I couldn't get on my own.

Ya thats how i felt. I taught myself and would practice for hours, then my dad said i had to do lessons and after about 4 months i got really bored of guitar and never practiced. Pretty sure it pissed my teacher off cause it would take me a month or 2 to finish a learning book thing(i went once a week usually)and when they had concert things i never went.

One of my co-workers is giving me lessons, so it will be more like him coming over to play guitar with me than anything else He's in a couple of bands and has been playing for like twenty years so I'm really excited to see what he can teach me. It's going to be pretty informal, he's just coming over to my house.

Oh well that might be different than going to a music store and learning to play the "correct" way.

Yea. Same thing with me Dark. Playing with friends always makes me motivated to play more, but then going to lessons kills my spirit again lol. My teacher is really cool and she likes the same music that I want to play, but it just seems a lot more boring while taking lessons.

And I took a guitar class at school last year. We could only cplay classical style. It wasn't too hard and it is better on your wrists, but it was really boring. That also killed guitar for me.

My guitar classes are awesome. I'm like 6 months in and can't play a single chord because I told my guitar teacher what music I like and apparently it's all power chords, unique styles, and single notes. Either one of us just suggests a song, he explains how to play it, finds the easiest way to play it, and bam.

Even if you're bad at the game, most of us don't care much either way unless they start raging up a bit which doesn't happpen often. I'm sure people would excuse for being bad at the game and besides you're probably going to be decent at it (More than the wookies we play with D:)
