More Black Ops News (mainly about split-screen gameplay)

You can now play online with guests OR with two seperate LIVE Gold accounts on the same system (guests don't keep rank ups, but the accounts keep ranking up as if they were played normally). Also, there are now "Custom Game" options, which have never been there in CoD.

Please god I hope they have a way to keep people from boosting killstreaks with this.
Otherwise half the players will just play splitscreen just to kill their guest 11 times.

What does an 11 killstreak do in Black Ops Zoic? I haven't really listened to many kill streaks unlocks D:

11 kill streak you get dogs.

Plus your 2 streaks leading up to 11.

How the fuck are they going to stop boosting? Split screen will make it 100 times easier than it already was in MW2.

Didn;t play MW2. One thing I like is that kill streak kills do not count for more kill streaks.

What is your worry though. I imagine that your split screen buddy has to be on your team, and you can;t team kill for kill streak kills.

No teams in free-for all though and you don't even need a buddy anymore.

Just hide your "guest" somewhere. Use a tactical insertion. Kill "him" 11 times. Launch killstreaks against everyone else playing. Repeat.

Maybe they've mentioned a fix for this and I just haven't seen it. Maybe they removed tactical insertion?

I played free-for-all a bunch because of the fact that almost no one, ever, ever tried to actually play for the objective in the other modes. Drove me crazy.

JD_2020 stated that if the boosting gets out of hand, they will disable the splitscreen gaming option. Also, you can go back in theater, record them, send it in, and report them.

I heard today you can go into theatre mode with a party.

No, it means that if they do it too much, it'll get removed, and it means that if you report them, they'll be banned from the online multiplayer.

Meh the if they do it too much it will get removed is pretty lame sounding to me honestly. So far I have like most everything i have heard about this game. TO hear the the devs are aware of a possible boost and to have that sort of attitude about it seems to me they didn;t put enough thought into it.

No, the only reason they're putting in is because people have bitched at Treyarch and IW for years to put a split-screen in for online MP, over and over and over again. So, Treyarch basically said, "Fine, we'll put it up, but if you can't handle it, and start abusing it, it's coming down"

LOL! How do you think that they'll "fix" the actual boosters? The main thing they will do, is ban them from the MP portion of the game.

I think it's lame and lazy to introduce something that could easily be exploited and then to just mention that they can remove it if it becomes a problem. Fuck that is what I say. Metals right it's not going to be removed.

THEY WILL BAN YOU? If you simply record them in theatre mode, and send it in using a report system, the video will be reviewed by staff. If it shows them boosting, cheating, aimbotting, ANYTHING, they will be banned from the MP.

People boosted constantly in MW2, aimbotted, wall hacked, and they wouldn't so much as get a slap on the wrist. They could do whatever they want, whenever, they want, and nothing would happen. Now that they are bannable offenses, you can report them, and get rid of them. If everybody does this, hackers and such will be gone (or significantly reduced, at the very least)within months, as it's the Xbox itself that is banned. Treyarch has gone to great measures to improve the game. Something tells me you didn't play the other CoDs and have to put up with the mondo BS present in them to enjoy such a great game underneath it all.

Let's see...closed Beta with split-screen...well, all those people play by the rules, so they can't really do that. I can name 100 better things about this game, even if that turns out to be a minor problem. At least they aren't going release a game that is so broken, that it's almost not worth playing because of hit-detection issues or cheating *cough BC2 and MW2 *cough*, and it takes them 6 months to fix it. I NEVER saw anybody complaining about that. >_>

Well, apparently everybody thinks that they can do a better job than developers, but it's not only that, it's the lop-sided, biased opinion. They never say ANYTHING bad about BC2, but that game is buggier than a Lousiana Bayou, attack choppers will never be nerfed enough, and there was NEVER a Beta. But apparently, CoD has one little flaw, and they make a mountain out of God damn molehill, present little fact more than theory (not to mention they haven't studied the game since Day 1 of announcement), as well as the fact that they say there should be a Beta...BC2's Beta didn't even have enough to really test the game, and was almost worse than having no Beta at all.

It's the kind of shit that makes my anger reach boiling point, 0-60, in one second.

My post isn't just for Bob. I don't think anyone here should be called out in public. This place is way more laid back than Gamefaqs, but we still have rules and a way of dealing with problems.

I have an idea. Why not disable split-screen for free for all gamemode. Not to hard I would think.

It's a shame spilt-screen is used this way. A high selling point for FPSs is splitscreen. My wife and I enjoy playing together without having to purchase 2 games.

I dont really care about split screen cause I usually don't have a lot of people over at a time.

Actually one of my first posts on the Gfaqs BC2 board was a rant about how BC2 was one of the buggiest, glitchiest most unpolished games I had ever seen released.
If you remember it, I'm the guy that compiled that list of all the bugs/glitches/problems (about 150 in all) from all the different forums and posted it there. Todays BC2 is a far cry from what they released.

That's just it though. We're not talking about one little bug that (Oops) wasn't ironed out. We're talking about a game design exploit that they've known about from previous games, that should have a better fix in place than "Well dudes... we'll see how it goes". You rage about much smaller issues than this all the time... I'm surprised this doesn't even bother you.

I hope you're right and theater mode and threats of banning keep it from getting out of control. I'll enjoy reporting people if it's needed. My point is it should be designed so that it's not even an issue anymore.

The main reason I am not as worried about Tac Insert as you? We can disable it. And, I just did for Free-For-All (hardcore and core) variants. It will still work in Private Matches in Free for All, but then you don't get XP in Private Matches so it can't be used for boosting.

The game has a reporting system. Report boosters and let's make examples of them. Once you lay the ban hammer on enough bad people word will get around that we don't take too kindly to this sort of thing.

And I'm sure they would realize the booster problem. I mean if IW can disable party chat on most modes, I'm sure you Treyarch could figure out how to disable one equipment item/splitscreen from one or two modes.
