1Wisconsin jumps LSU in AP poll Empty Wisconsin jumps LSU in AP poll 2010-11-21, 16:17

OK, I want to be civil about this. I want to understand.

I know there are some Big 10 people around here. Anyone care to explain how Wisconsin jumps my Tigers in the AP poll today?

LSU is 10-1. Our only loss is to an undefeated Auburn team that is led by the leading Heisman candidate. And we lost that game by one touchdown.

Oh and we thumped Alabama 2 weeks ago.

Really?!! Wisonsin generates enough 'style' points to jump us?

Hmmmm....

I'm not a big College guy, and don't really understand the Ranking system, but that's good for Wisconsin, being that I use to follow them more closely in the 90's

I'm more baffled by the decision than I am upset by anything that results from it. In the larger scheme of things is doesn't mean much.

Im a big ten guy, and I got mixed feelings. Lsu is obviously a great team. But they truly havent looked thst great. Wisky has beaten ohio state and is killing everyone. With that sais-screw wisconsin.

All I gotta say is dont fret dude. We are ranked behind stanford! Does anyone truly think stanford could beat ohio state?

Lesson-wait for the final polls. Still alot of football to be played.

Yes, look at my second post. I realize it doesn't mean much. I'm just questioning the thought process of these AP dorks.

Who did Winconsin lose to?

Michigan state- most over rated team in the big ten.

I don't know about that, Stanford is pretty good this year. I'd like to see them play in the Rose Bowl to be honest this year.

*Is biased because Stepfan Taylor is a local kid*

Probably the fact that y'all only beat Ole Miss by 7, and they are terrible this year...I mean they lost to Jacksonville State(a FCS team) and Tennessee thumped Ole Miss the week before 52-14...the same Tennessee that had to go to double OT to beat UAB(who is just 4-7 this year). Y'all play down to your opponents and Wisconsin has been blowing other teams away(last 2 games have been 83-20 and 48-28), so they look a lot more impressive on paper. Also I don't really think a 24-21 win over Bama is thumping us...don't get me wrong y'all definitely outplayed us and deserved to win, but in my opinion a 3 point victory is never a thumping in football.

LSU will probably lose this weekend anyway. They play at Arkansas right? My money would be on the hogs.

Guest

The buckeyes would smear stanford! My god.....Luck would have to play the game of his life to just keep it close. Our D is friggin nasty, like always!

Guest

Guest

I think it'd be a good game. Stanford gave Oklahoma a good game last season. Too bad it was the crappy Sun Bowl.

Guest

Guest

This has been a terrible season! Does anyone truly think Oregon and Auburn are the two best teams?

Guest

Guest

I want Bama in the Sugar Bowl so bad. If it were to happen there may be 20 points scored the whole game! Would be a brutal game.

Guest

Guest

I think Auburn is a farce. Plus the whole Cam Newton thing is irritating.

Oregon has a powerful offense. I'd like to see them face a great Defense.

Guest

Guest

Mills about stanford- I live in pac ten country, and watch alot of the conference games. I despisr pac ten football. Nobody plays defensr, and its a soft conference. Cant wait to move back home.

Guest

Guest

Oregon faced a great defense in the rose bowl last year and got curb stomped.

Guest

Guest

LOL... you are a huge Buckeye homer. It's all good though. I hate Oregon probably as much as you do. I was happy for OSU.

Guest

Guest

Ill admit im a homer....its ok haha. But Im also honest and realistic, when I think my Bucks will lose Ill admit it. This year is different though. That one damn game to Wisconsin screwed our season. We should have been in the drivers seat. In a neutral field this year the only team that would worry me is Alabama. Last year we wouldnt have beat them,we were good but not quite Championship caliber. I feel differently this year. Ah well as long as we kick Michigans ass and go to another BCS bowl its a good year. We may be preseason number 1 next season though. Almost our entire team comes back. We lose some off the D, but we are so deep and rotate so much the young guys have gotten tons of playing time. Hey we got a home/ home here in the next few seasons Mills. I need to look it up, but I think we start in 2012.

Edit- I looked it up and we start until 2014 Sad

Also- Its kinda tough being fans of powerhouse teams like the Sooners and Buckeyes. If you have one bad season(like Texas this year), or hell even lose one game(like us this year) you cannot blame it on talent. Coaching is huge in college football.

Wisconsin played inspired football against the bucks. They came out insanely pumped.

When was the last time OSU lost to Michigan? It has to be like 10 years or so.

Actually, this is one year I would NOT say LSU is playing 'down' to opponents. We have no passing game (worst in SEC statistically and ranked WAY down there nationally) and therefore it's a miracle we're 10-1. Therefore, we are actually overacheiving. We're coming out with this old school Red Grange shit and actually making it happen.

Anyway, yeah I agree with your basic premis about the margins of victory. But I thought strength of schedule was supposed to count for something.

Sorry to offend with my use of 'thumped'. Let's try "the summation of Alabama's efforts were quantitatively challenged...by a margin equal to 14.3% of the opposing team's final score."

To anyone questioning Auburn's record/rank: uh, have you watched Auburn at all this year? I mean, they are beatable but for Lord's sakes they are a legit team. Cam's dad might be sketchy but Cam is a hell of a player.

Guest

Guest

I've watched Auburn.

Guest

Guest

Auburn is a good team, not great. That defense is pretty weak.

Guest

Guest

Bama is thumping them early in the first quarter. C'MON TIDE!!!!

Guest

Guest

Yup just as I figured. Auburn is a fraud. Next up Oregon!

Guest

Guest

Does Oregon play tonight or tomorrow?

Guest

Guest

Auburn currently has -10 yards. Down 21-0 in the first.

Guest

Guest

Oregon plays zona tonight, and I cant wait to root hard against them. God I hate Oregon!

Guest

Guest

I love Mike Stoops. I too will be pulling for the cats.

Guest

Guest

Let me tell you first hand, pac ten football sucks! Nobody plays defense except for Zona sincr stoops got there,.USC and Oregon state. The rest are as soft as a pillow. I think arizona beats the quaks today!

Guest

Guest

That would leave Boise and TCU in the title game!!!!! lol... I'd love to see it. The BCS would look so ridiculous.

Guest

Guest

24 - 7 halftime. Bama still leads.

Guest

Guest

Yup yup about whay I expected. Im biased but seeing Cam against a good d for really the first time this year, but Pryor>>>Newton.

Guest

Guest

dammit Bama. Pick it up!! 24-21.

Guest

Guest

Uh oh..... Bamas line is getting killed.

Guest

Guest

Julio jones just pulled a Devier posey.....

Guest

Guest

A Devawho?

Guest

Guest

Devier posey? Bucks numero uno reciever? Stud reciever whos got the dropsies like Jones. Didnt you see the Iowa highlights/game last week when he dropped the perfect pryor bomb in the fourth? Ha hes damn goid and will be probably be first round when he comes out. But damn hes like our own braylon edwards haha, without the criminal aspect of course.

Guest

Guest

I have heard of him but not enough to know if he drops balls often.

Guest

Guest

Yea its horribly frustrating.....but what are your thoughts on your game this weekend? Im thinking if theres less than 90 total points ill be shocked. Blackmon is awesome, as is Broyles for you guys

Bama Psycho

I'm so disappointed at how horrible Bama played after the 1st quarter. We gave that game away. We played to win for 1 quarter then we played not to lose for the other 3.

brother mouzon

I thought it was really strange how the game played out. 24-0 seems like a blow out, but 24-7 is like a totally different situation. 24-7 is not a huge deal in the first half. Once Auburn got that first TD I think the mood for everyone changed. And the karma blowback from the Richardson drop in the endzone...

I'd say the biggest play of the day is GMac getting knocked out of the game. Y'all were one FG away and had plenty of time. I think Gmac's chances of getting the ball down the field are better than average there. But when he got knocked out it was really over.

Auburn did the same damn thing against Clemson...busted up their QB really bad.

Guest

Guest

So we stomped the Wolverines just as I figured. So it looks like we are a lock for an at large for the Sugar Bowl. Im relatively happy with the outcome of the season, but still some lingering disappointment from losing to Wisconsin.....I feel this could have been out year. But oh well....let go to another BCS bowl and hopefully beat an SEC team!

Ill be watching closley the rest of the day on a few games.....most notably

- Wisky/ Northwestern
-Oklahoma/ Oklahoma St
-LSU/Arkansas( winner likely our opponent in Sugar Bowl)

Guest

Guest

Also Alabama really let me down yesterday. They really choked that game away hard. I give Cam Newton credit as he played great down the stretch. But man.....so many blown opportunities. The Ingram fumble in the 2nd as he busted the long one comes to mind.....

Amazing Bedlam game last night.
