Is it because Politics and Religion spark flame wars, and Sex can lead to offensive things being said?
If you want to prevent that, then that's fine.
Politics, Sex, and Religion can all be talked about in "Real Life," seeing as that's what they relate to. I don't care if it's removed, because they can still be talked about. Removing it might actually not be a bad idea, considering that it encourages people to make topics on the subjects. Not saying that topics about those subjects are a bad thing, per se... just that they can turn ugly.
I dunno. I'm just trying to figure out why.

Tolerance isn't something you can enforce. Nor can you even teach it. It has to be realized.

I'd hate to think we are too immature to discuss any relatively sensitive issues.... We could always avoid all arguments altogether by not talking about anything, but that would be a tad bit boring.

As long as people are talking to each other there are going to be some arguments. Let's just deal with them maturely and try our best not to start nasty ones instead of just censoring the shit out of ourselves.

Even though I don't browse that forum since there have been topics and posts that have both offended and pissed me off, I still don't think that it should be taken down.

I just don't want to see other topics like the ones that take place in there in other boards. Atleast now it's easier to avoid

Soap has a damn good point. Religion and politics should never be discussed because it just stirs shit up. I for one avoid that topic for the exact same reason Soap does so if people can't leave it ALONE atleast we don't have to put up with it in the general populace.
I do think that many people post things in it just to piss people off though.

I agree with Frost and DL here. It shouldn't be taken down, the problem is some users are too immature to show tolerance. Unfortunately, as said, tolerance can't be taught. I think we should just be a lot stricter in modding those topics, because they can get out of hand. If you post in that board, you should be aware what you say can and will offend others, and try and take that into account when you post.

Discussing religion and politics can start flame wars, but sometimes these topics can be really civil and fun to post in and read. I think the pros outweigh the cons of the topics, as long as we can start having people act more civilly in the board, which unfortunately is no light task.

I think wacco has a point about stricter modding in that subforum.
I at times like to venture in there myself.

What's everyones take on attaching a stricter modd policy on that forum.
And in reality we would only enforcing our current rules to full capacity.

I'm all for it. People can't really complain about the rules being enforced, and it's not in a harmful way, it will be so people don't get offended and arguments will hopefully remain civil.

I feel that if your join in on a conversation in that forum, than your probably going to be angered or offended in some way at some point if its a topic you feel strongly about. Unless its a direct attack it won't be on the chpping block.

If someone says religion is correct on all matters and I dispute that.
Ill probably be offending that person. But it isn't modd worthy because its a debate and I didn't directly attack that person.

So just relize in the future that the SRP forum will have a stronger mod enforcemt. But only on blatent personal attacks. Speaking your mind, and debating in a civil manner, may even cuase some offence to one party or another. But unless its highly inappropriate the mods won't step in.
This means that for some, its beter to stay out of there all together.

True. I guess I mean they shouldn't. Honestly, we just kind of need to abide by that rule if you don't have anything positive (in this case I guess it would be constructive or something), then don't say anything at all.

The fact that it is contained in that forum for the m ost part I see as a good thing. I don't think delteting the board will solve anything because as said those topics will just sprout up somewhere else. At least now it is contained. And yes we can become more active in enfocing the few rules in place.

Sounds good. Personal attacks should generally be modded anyway, unless it's just some friends light-heartedly shooting shit at each other, which that forum probably wouldn't be a good place for that.
