i dunno if this is common knowledge of what not but I saw this in my chemistry textbook and I didn't think it would work. Apparently it does and i had a little mind = blown moment.

My personal fave for high.school experiments was dry ice! Oh the fun to be had....

I love Dry Ice Very Happy

I love just jamming a screwdriver into it as it makes a horribly oxnoxious noise.

I love making Classes unteachable for the next period due to the sheer amount of mist on the floor distracting the students Very Happy

liquid nitrogen FTW!

when we'd finished our teacher just poured it over the table and nitrogen mist spilled off the edges and along the joints in between tables (no-one else wanted it since our other teacher went to A&E after accidentally putting his hand in it) Very Happy

Our Teacher Did other Fun stuff like take us to Rotorua to learn about Methane lol

Today in chemistry we did all kinds of reactions. We put pure sodium in water, it was pretty badass. And we watched videos of Potassium, Rubidium, and Cesium in water. It was pretty crazy what they do.

Hey guys look at this!

*ignites magnesium*

Most of our later science class's were Theory though and no practical so that kind of sucked

I've never had chemistry in HS.

The video was good lol i was waiting for the index card to fall off for the "oh shit" moment.

My teacher did that earlier in the year and it almost burned this girl that was sitting in the front row lol.

And burning magnesium is cool.

I want to see Francium in water Very Happy

I know me too! But people gotta be pussies about it. It can't be that dangerous. Earlier this year we burned some elements. I just know copper was boss. I don't remember if we burnt magnesium.

The Adli Corporation

The Adli Corporation

yeah i opened the worksheet for an experiment today and there were sooo many warnings of the stuff we were using.

corrosive x 4
dangerous for the environment x 4
very toxic x 1
harmful x 8
highly flammable x 2
oxidising x 2
wear goggles and chemical resistant gloves

Shocked

and they made the whole classroom stink Rolling Eyes

yeah we did that earlier this year too, to illustrate how different atoms emit different colored lights. Are you doing electron configuration? its pretty boring...

The Adli Corporation

The Adli Corporation

yeah electron configurations are boring.

even at A2 its the same damn dot and cross diagrams and lines and dots and crosses.

plus there aren't any experiments so its ALL theory. *zzzz*
