Well, considering the x-box controller has the worst d-pad ever, in consideration with the fact that a new 2D Mortal Kombat is in the making, I think I'll be picking this up.

No, I long, slim fingers, but that's another story..

Unlike most controllers, or at least Nintendo controllers, where the D-pad is split up into four directions that can be pressed individually, the xbox has more of a cross on top of an analogue stick. I always found sliding my finger from the middle outwards worked better with the xbox, while every other controller ever invented with a d-pad I just pressed on the edge of the cross of the direction I wanted. Playing fighting games like Mortal Kombat, which always had moves based on distinct direction patterns, such as back-forward, with the xbox controller sucked. I guess it's just too analogue for my tastes. I want the old-school up-down-left-right d-pad.

I have also had issues where I swear i press up on the damn thing and it goes sideways. Or vice versa! I might have to give this controller a try.

I never really had a problem with the d-pad, but I do like the look of the controller.

I won't buy it, though. I already have three (broke number four in a Halo 3 rage fit), but I don't use them since I don't play split-screen games anymore.

I need/want a new wireless cause my headset keeps f'n up in my current one forcing me to go old school wired!

I hate wired controllers! I love the freedom that wireless gives you! As well as the comfort!

At times I have become animated with my body movements and yanked my cord out of the console. This was especially frustrating back when I played COD on the PS2. My guy would just be standing there.... and then I would get shot!

Hmm I've not had that problem. Mine always works fine. Even when I get the flashy warning me of low bats I still have plenty of time to wait till I change them!

This is the Mad Catz controller I've had for 2 years and used for my computer. Let's compare it to this "new" controller.
Good D-Pad? Check.
Batteries? Wired so no recharge kit is needed.
Price? $24.99 USD compared to the $64.99 USD for the new one.

True, that and the triggers feel a little wierd, but still. It's $40 cheaper, available now, and no batteries are needed. I'd say it's pretty decent. And I've pretty sure there's updates versions of it.

I picked it up because there was a movie store that was going out of buisness and they marked it down to $10.00. I also got Rock Band Beatles for $20.00 and at the time it was only a few weeks old.

I've had both my controllers since I've had my Xbox; all for 3-4 years. They're getting wore out though.

I clean my controllers once a month or so.

I love my black controller. My Halo 3 one is cool too, though the back button sticks. Means I can't use it on BC2, lol.

I might get one, the D-Pad does suck and one of the control sticks on both my controllers has a small amount of hang to one side. Like, after pressing it in that direction, sometimes my screen will keep moving after I've let go until I push it slightly to the other direction.

I've got all sorts of sticky stuff on my keyboard. It's prolly very unsanitary...
