Passed my CWP class yesterday.

It took 8 hours starting from 6:45 in the morning to about 4:30 or 5 o'clock. Had to pass a shooting test and a written test. Both of which were laughable. The shooting test required that you hit the target 35 times out of 50 while the target progressively moves out from 3 yards to 15. The written test was multiple choice and the average score on it was 94 and up and it has apparently taken some people an hour to complete which is . The hardest part about the class was making sure that I filled out the paperwork correctly or it would be denied be SLED.

Some people are just slow test takers, could be bad reading comprehension or just that they are nervous testers. Never know.

what kind of weapons are you allowed to have on you? im guessing only handguns?

You can carry any caliber handgun as long as it is a certain size. You can carry up to .50 if you want but that seems a bit much.

For the most part you can carry into any business unless they have a sign posted saying that you can't. You can't carry into any federal building or any building owned by tax payers. (eg. Schools, Hospitals and things of that nature) But there is quite a bit more to it which most of the class focuses on.


I'm getting it as a stepping stone to other permits and as credentials for when my dad and I open the Gun Store/Range that we are planning on in the next year or so.

Nice man. How much did it cost in your state? Ive got 3 handguns with no papers, and no permit. They basically stay in my closet lol.

The class was $150 with $50 being a money order for a 4 year permit and the rest to pay for the class (tests, fingerprints and proof of residence and things like that.) But the classes range from $80 and up but where I went was a place that I liked though so I was willing to pay a little more.

You will have to check what is required to get one in your state because it varies a lot state to state. Some don't even require you to take a test.


Also, a funny thing about when I went to take the test. I was worried that they may not have enough to do the test because they require 5 people minimum and when I showed up they ended up with 35 people taking the class. Which kinda made me go .

Same thing happened in my hunter education class. The guy said they never have all the people show up...then that day all of us showed lol. That class was also laughable....had to get 5/10 shots with a match 22 rifle at 25 feet lol and I scored a 100 on the written part
