I love that movie. Hillarious space-zombie gorefest.

Never seen the show, but rented the movie on a whim and it was surprisingly cool. I liked it.

Oh man... the movie is good, but it's really just a supplement to the show.
Or the show is a supplement to the movie.
Either way, it's a great show, with well-written characters, good acting, and an interesting plot. The comedy is pretty good, too.

I guess they might be.

In the plot of the Firefly universe, "brown coat" refers to the resistance movement against the galactic empire or whatever the fuck it was called. Basically, the government in space was too big, too controlling, and they were a bunch of dicks. The brown coats fought against them and lost.

The main character and his first mate were survivors of the last battle that determined the outcome of the war.
