This is a fantasy series written by the late Robert Jordan. The series stands at 13 books so far, with the last one currently being worked on by his hand-picked successor Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn Series), and a prequel novella. It is a very involved series with some intricate plots, multiple in depth character profiles, very detailed battle scenes. The books are large (most being somewhere between 700-800 pages long, others being much bigger) and can be heavy reading in some sections. This has been my favorite series since I read the first book when I was 15. I highly recommend this to anyone. Be warned, fans of the series have HUGE discussions as to how the whole thing will end and what will happen to whom. Not everything gets explained right away, but Jordan leaves you to guess at alot of things under much later on in the series.

whoa. If I was rich and didn't have to work or anything I may attemtp to read some of those. Don't get me wrong, I've read some long Tom Clancy novels in the past, but the sheer lack of free time I have anymore makes that not really an option anymore. Sounds good though. I enjoy writers who build in depth worlds and plot lines.

When I started it the 7th just came out, so I've kinda had a headstart. I suggest the library to get started.

I picked the first one up when it was a new release paperback and read up through 6 or 7 I think.

My brother and I were just having a conversation about authors last week and Jordan came up. We decided that around book 5 or 6 even he had no idea where the story was going anymore. I did really enjoy them up to that point though... except for the female characters, I hated every single one of them. Still do actually. I haven't read one of those books in 10 years and I still remember hating a girl character named Nynaeve (or something like that) and another named Morainne...

Maybe I should try them again. My buddy Andy just picked up the complete collection in hardback off ebay a few months ago.

Jordan does meander a bit in the middle, but it's starting to make sense at the end. He did finish the story before he died, he just died before actually could fine tune it, and edit it..
