Speakeasy's Best Movie Tournament

Coming soon... I will be posting a Best movie tournament. Obviously some movies will be left out but I will try to make a very large list.

Initially I will list a buttload of movies by genre. I will give each Speakeasy member 10 votes per genre. I want you to choose 10 movies from each genre as your favorites. When I consolidate votes, I will take the 5-10 best movies from each genre you voted in and put them in a bracket of sorts. Then we will get another chance to vote on which movie you like in each matchup.

Eventually you all will vote in the winner. That movie will be the best movie in existence according to us. We are all that matters right? I

hope we get a ton of participation. I think this will be fun. Maybe the final 16 or so movies can be part of the movie club selection or something. We will see what happens.

Should totally do the finally as a movie debate. We watch the final 2 and debate it until we break out into violence and whoever walks away wins~

can anyone suggest films?

also, if they are in a series, can you say the XYZ films, or X 123 etc, and have that as one vote?

Edit: Forgot Pan's Labyrinth. Sweet effects/costuming(whatever you want to consider it) and the soundtrack is a nice inspiration for my creative pursuits

You all are illustrating why this would be a good tournament. No one can really agree on what is best.

I will take any suggestions. But I will make a very large list. Some research is needed.

And this will be single movies. A series will be broken down.

No love for Super Troopers or Monty Python: ATHG?

The Shining takes the cake as far as anything horror/thriller.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest takes the rest of that said cake.

I could vote for 200 movies and I wouldn't be satisfied. Though I am curious as to what comes of this.

Here are some I can think of that no one has said yet

Running Scared - I reccomend watching this movie to everyone

Predator - Classic action (it was my first movie in theatres lol)

Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman - Newer version 2003 edition

Shogun Assassin - The lone wolf and cub series mixed into 1 to 2 movies

My Sassy Girl - The Korean version, I have it if anyone wants to watch it

All are action movies that I'm sure you would like except for the last one which I'm sure you'll like but its not action.

Whoever first said Fight Club needs a medal.

I may have missed this, but what genres are going to be included? Better not leave out sci-fi.... and is animation going to get its own category or will it be lumped in with the other genres?
