I can only imagine it is... HOWEVER i have no proof. other than the letter i sent, which conveniently happened a week ago.

Guess they figured it was easier to get rid of me than confront my boss.

When they asked me if i had anything to say, all i could at the moment utter out was a stern "NOPE!!"

That sucks man, you probably could have a legal case against it. There are many laws to protect people from whistle blowing and I think you being fired coincidentally a week after a complaint is good enough of proof.

The only problem with that is it being a catch 22. Sure Taters might get to go after them for unlawful termination, but it will be on his record that he did so and may cause other employers to shy away from him as someone who might be sue happy or libel to go after them too if they fire him.

I am sure if they look at it they'd understand i know some people might get the wrong idea. But i can't imagine someone being there for 10 years could be considered sue happy. And if they're following the rules and regulations they should have nothing to worry about.

But people don't often look deeper into it is the problem. Either from just and automatic negatove response or laziness.

Same happens often with those who have to go on workmans comp for a long time.

Problem is, i don't have proof that's why they let me go. I was told in the meeting this morning it was because sales weren't good enough.

The company is an "at will" business. they could let you go if they didn't like you.

I wasn't fired. i was laid off. their allowing me to collect unemployment and offered a referal letter as well.

It still sucks, now i gotta write resume's and i haven't had to do this EVER!!

Just look them up online they're not too hard to write up, had to do one for school before. I guess if it is true then you can't.

That sucks. Sad Especially in this day and age where finding a job is fairly difficult; I can't believe a business would just fire you like that after 10 years of working there. Well, at least you have work experience to note on your resume. :/

wow thats a bummer man. I personally would shy away from legal action just because I find it very distastful. I hope you find a new place to work tahts even better than your old job. One can only hope

I was livid earlier. Now honestly it's the best thing that could've happened to me.

Quite honestly all i'd do all day long is visit this site and occasionally have a customer.

I'm getting unemployment, BUT i'm job hunting right away. Maybe some kinda security job or law enforcement? I've always liked the idea of being a cop. Otherwise i may join the military also.

Sorry to hear that man.
There may be unemployment re-training programs in your state that would pay for college. You might look into that since you're thinking of a career change.

If unemployment will pay you enough to survive I'd suggest taking a bit of time to find something good, rather than just trying to find something right away.

Hopefully this turns out to be a good change for you.
