a HP pavilion DV1738od.

I literally got the shit for free, and despite its age its still a great laptop.

Plus I had a friend who when he replaced the motherboard(again, for free)he added almost a whole 2 gigs of RAM and memory(once more with feeling, FOR FREE!).

Can't you make your own recovery disks? Or are those just back up disk you can make.

What do you need a recovery disk for? Most of them are utter garbage and you'd be better off reformatting your hard drive.
