Was given an HD DVD today. The case looks just like a Blu Ray case, but red. Now onto my question. Will this play in any regular DVD or Blu Ray player or does it have to be a HD DVD player?

I'm pretty sure it has to be an HDDVD. That's what the Xbox 360 (post 2007) comes with.

luckily it's dirt cheap now days,but idk if it's worth it for 1 movie...


HD DVD lost the "war' to blu ray,it won't work in a dvd player nor blue ray...has to be a hd dvd player (dunno any) or that 360 add on

you mean it came with the add on or the disc drive on the actual xbox will play hd dvds?

if so I might pick some up >__>

I dunno what all came for hd dvd,but it should be very cheap by now and good quality

Elite 360s have a stock HD DVD player.

Well. I just tried my HD DVD porn on my 360. Didn't load, but it might be that my tv is SD. But I remember before buying my Elite, reading that it comes with one. So I dunno.

Dont all 360's played Hd Dvds? I thought the disc format for 360 games was essentially an HD Dvd. Kind of like how Ps3 games are essentially blu ray discs.

either way, theres only a few hundred movies out on Hd dvd, its kind of irrelevant.

the xbox 360 requires the external HD DVD drive to play HD DVDs

the HD DVD drive was discontinued a long time ago

HD DVD should play in standard DVD format right of the xbox

nah xbox is just dual layer regular DVDs I'm pretty sure,8gb max or something like that

HD DVD was something like 15gb...idk haven't looked it up in awhile
