Sci-fi/horror mastermind John Carpenter (The Thing, Escape from New York ... uh, Ghosts of Mars?) told Game Informer that Dead Space would make for a great film and he'd make for a great person to direct it.

"I maintain that Dead Space would just make a great movie because you have these people coming onto an abandoned, shut-down space ship and they have to start it up and something's on board. It's just great stuff," Carpenter said. "I would love to make Dead Space [into a film], I'll tell you that right now. That one is ready-made."

After disappointing sells with Dead Space 3, a film may not be the best move for EA. But, hey, sales didn't stop Wing Commander from getting made, right?

In other Carpenter news, he regrets purchasing Aliens: Colonial Marines:"They're trying to get you to buy the game, which I stupidly did." Human after all, it seems.

It wouldn't be awesome if he did it. His films are typically horrid. except for The Thing which is one of the best movies ever... go figure.

Maybe if a Dead Space script was sent back in time to the awesome 80's Carpenter....

I seriously cant think of the last time i saw a horror movie i enjoyed. All any of them are is just a gore fest, and that isnt scary, its just gross.

I liked the new Evil Dead before that, I thought Chernobyl Diaries was cool but everybody hated it online but I'm really not a movie critic snob lol

Dead Space is pretty much The Thing, Aliens, and Event Horizon combined.

There's potential, I think the animated movies proved that at least.

They did a very good job re-imagining The Evil Dead. It was good.
