I went to see it in 3D a couple days ago, and I think the best comparison I could make for the movie is Avatar. It has fantastic CG, great 3D, but a weak story and plot. Gravity gets the nudge though because it has some fantastic cinematography. I would also like to think it captured what being in space would be like. I think it is definitely one of those films that you should see in a theater.

Really? It is directed by the same guy who did Children of Men, and it has been getting a ton of press.

It does look cool. Does she get naked in this movie?
I've thought she was hot since Demolition Man.

I saw it a week ago. I'd agree with Tom's assessment...no real plot it's just pretty to look at and it does a reasonable job at keeping tension high. There was one pretty cheesy scene where I was just like "seriously?" but other than that it was decent.

I thought it was good. I thought the plot was good enough for what they were doing. I mean, you're trapped, alone, in orbit around the earth, trying to get home. And they had the killer debris field after her too. What else did they really need, aliens and space nazis too?

Its hard to do much character development when your trapped in orbit above the earth

It's hard to really have a movie about being trapped in orbit above Earth. Somehow they did it though.

I couldn't imagine a movie about people floating around in space being particularly captivating.  However, I don't ever want to be floating loose in space.  Fuck that noise.

I still have to play Kerbal Space Program decently. I just fucked around for a couple of hours, but it's fun.

Exactly my thoughts, just looked boring to me and I have zero interest in watching this movie.

That's what I thought too, but its so much more than that. It's a must see in 3d, I can't imagine it being even remotely close to as good in 2d. But there were many points in which I noticed I stopped breathing or was actually a little scared in a way. I also flinched a hell of a lot.
