I never saw the big deal with tablets, I'd rather just use a laptop or regular smartphone, but I've never personally used a tablet so I can't say for sure

If you used a smart phone before, and the tablet is the same operating system, then it's the same thing except you can't make a phone call.

Tablets are incredibly ergonomic and surprisingly pleasant to browse with.

I've thought about getting a Kindle Fire HDX one of these days since I started using the iPad I was issued.
