So my boss and I were talking and he brought up the whole CoD vs. BF debate. I never really hear CoD players blatantly bash BF but BF players have a sort of superiority complex over what the deem to be players of a game that is beneath them. Ironically, its the same superiority complex that the "upper echelon" battlefield players have over "randy bk scrubs".

So is it in a battlefield player's nature to be a well stat obsessing, high horse riding douche or is it the community itself that is to blame? Sure CoD is 60 fps but thats all they ever really say regarding battlefield.

This is what I ponder while sitting at work, watching pulp fiction on netflix.

I don't hate Call of Duty, I hate the style of gameplay, and not because it's a bad game. I'm just not good at Call of Duty.

I like games where a persons ability to adapt, use tactics, and function with a good team wins the match. CoD more often than not, a single player can carry the entire match due to bad spawns, use of kill streak bonuses and the like, it's an arcade shooter as opposed to a tactical shooter. Two different games entirely

But yes, Battlefield players do have this air of elitism about them. They are like that for precisely why I dislike CoD, it's arcadeish, relying on reflex and with the current games, connection speed. Console BF players can be bad, but PC BF players can get particularly snobby looking down on the console players saying they can't afford a gaming PC because they're too cheap or too poor.

In fact one of my room mates is pretty stuck up about the fact that she was able to do very well in the Alpha phase of BF3 while me and my two other friends who were absolute noobs were getting destroyed.

Quite frankly, I like both franchises for what they offer, it's just I enjoy the BF series far more and think over all, it's just a better made game MP wise.

I don't talk shit to people who play CoD, and I could care less what games they enjoy. However, I've played both, and I have a strong opinion of both games, and I like expressing my opinions.
I think Battlefield is a better game. I think all game communities have a lot of assholes. However, there are cool people who play these games as well (us, duh), so it all balances out. It's just that you know the cool people aren't the ones that get all of the attention, because they're not harassing their team on the mic, or sending nasty messages and whatnot.

I am a little over the 400 hour mark and i think i am good not anything super special but definately better than your average player.



I've never really had any cod hatred i do like spec ops but dislike it's multiplayer. I've never even played black ops just some MW2. I can see why cod outsells BC you can enjoy it by yourself while BC is hard to enjoy without a good team.



The only time i argue about the game is usually with my two friends who think BC stole things from cod. My one friend believes that since he's good at cod that makes him good at BC, because it's the same concept he says. Well guess what, he sucks at BC.



Both of my friends also say that battlefield is pretty much the same thing aswel with a few changes just like cod.



I don't even bother to discuss the game with those two anymore.

I enjoy CoD's multiplayer(with randoms muted of course). The one thing I can say CoD has over battlefield, no spm killing snoozefest games at 2am. :/

I don't know, but for the past couple months there have been far, far more BF fans trolling the MW3 boards on Gfaqs than vice-versa.

So for the past few months at least the BF guys have been the bigger douche bags.

Hmmm I like both games. CoD was the game that got me into FPS games so I'll always be willing to try out a CoD game. I am just a recent member of the battlefield games. I tried the BC2 demo out and got hooked.

For mw they really do scratch two diferent gaming itches. The only thing I see they share is that they are FPS games.... otherwise the playstyle is diferent, the feel is diferent.

Battlefield and CoD both have shitty people on the game. The only reason I thnk its more noticable on CoD is because the only people on BC2 you ca hear are the people in your squad. On COS you can hear everyone when you are in the lobby. Otherwise I think in BC2 you would hear a lot more trolls.

I receive more hatemail in BC2...... THough I did make a kid cry on CoD.

As far as more kids playing CoD than BC2 again with not being able to hear the randoms on BC2 I wouldnl;t even say that is true.

BC1 is about £5 now, and it has an EPICAL campaign, so much damn fun.

I have strong feeling on both franchises as Ive been playing both for years. They are both so different style wise, its really not even fair to compare them to be honest. I used to love COD back in the day, and Im talking Call of Duty 1 and 2. Those games were epic for their time, and 2 especially starting integrating a very good MP experience. MW1 was ok, but I got bored of it in like 40 hours and never touched it again. And each entry from there has been shittier and shittier. The entire focus is now the MP, which is literally a re-skinned version of the past years games with very very minor changes if any. The MP is very shallow when compared to games like BF and Halo. The community is terrible. Its 75% snot nosed teenagers who love spouting racists shit and much more.

BF however has been MP centric from day 1. In fact the original games on PC didnt even have a SP portion. The scale of the battle, much more realistic combat mechanics, vehicles, required teamwork etc..... just make it a better game to me. Period.


Both communities have alot of douche bags though. But thats true for every large MP game in history.

One of the main reasons i prefer battlefield is because you all play it, and i dont have to deal with stupid people I dont know over the internet as much.

The Average Battlefield Player is a Call of Duty player with better taste in games.

Even though most suck at them.

BF super fans go on about how complicated the games is, even though it isn't, they just aren't that smart and don't play the game right anyway.

Cod super fans go on about how easy and accessible it is, of course it is, it is designed for the lowest common denominator. and that isn't something to be proud of.

And yes it is Tall. They just they run at a lower FPS. I've been playing since BF 1942 and they are just as bad as the COD players. it is just that you can just pack a helluva lot more Meat heads in a Battlefield game and sometimes the bright lights and mob mentality make a actual game happen.

I actually agree with GM.

I've done BF2 and BF2142 and the amount of ignorance and douchebaggery is staggering. We disregard randies for a reason, they arent good but you have to experience the retarded hate mail, habits, and general idiotic nature of smurfs.

Maybe I just prefer battlefield players to be players and good, instead of focusing on how superior they are because their game doesnt feature kill streaks. Its the terrible players that taunt the CoD crowd and you know what, shenanigans.

its mostly seen in the exploits of battlefield not being exploited as thoroughly.

sniper rifles are more powerful in a cqc situation in battlefield than cod.
cod still has more people trying to pull off leet headshot pro shit even though the battlefield sniper rifles do it easier

gustav mk2 isnt on every engie because most of them are decent people who want to blow up a tank for the team

your tank isnt stolen 100% of the time by a randie gunner, every tank i had a randy gunner in yesterday let me drive it

how often do you see people destroying their own objectives? for me? 1/30 matches tops. people can troll bc2 alot easier but dont this way

i would say most people in bc2 dont know what they are doing sometimes. part of that is because the whole team isnt communicating. you cant usually yell at a randy for doing something wrong.

I think 90% of the time we think people are being dicks and trolling when often times theyre just kind of oblivious (and often times its understandable) and would probably apologize if you were in a party with them.

I usually dont have a problem with teammates. I rarely even have people steal chopper seats when i repair. and once i can get someones attention, they'll always give me ammo/health.

Battlefield Vietnam has poison helipads so people can't stand on them for a reason. Idiots trolls who stand there and not let the chopper respawn that the common moron who won't play the game until he can fly the chopper.

BF Trolls can do more to you but messing the game up but that is every so often, but the average Awful player is moron who refuses to play the game period.

BC2:V's problem is the maps are dumb and there is no hard cover besides the 4 temples on those 2 maps with them and Rocks....and rocks suck as cover. Also AK-47 aka THE FUCKING GOD DAMMIT WHY DID THEY MAKE IT SUPER POWERFUL WITH THE FASTEST RELOAD AND NO RECOIL WHY!!!!!!!

But this isn't about Vietnam. This is about the Communities.

It just thay Battlefield Players have better taste in games.

And the average player on both is horrible and nobody knows why they choose to suck, but they sure as hell suck.

the communities for bc2 vietnam and vanilla bc2 are 2 different things. vietnam is worse is trolliness.
