Finally... got the M1 Garand into my top 3 best weapons....

Currently it's lagging behind my Thompson and M14 by quite a bit (M14 and Thompson at 696 kills) at 530, hoping to platinum the M14 now and then the Thompson before BF3 releases. God though, it's a little tough being accurate at extended ranges with irons. I was spoiled by x4 optic on my M14. Interesting enough though, I'm more accurate with the M1 Garand than my M14, perhaps because I take my time with the shots more with the M1 as opposed to the M14.

I can't seem to bring myself to use normal AR's as an assault class anymore, the inability to deal with vehicles due to the fact that I have a 40mm drives me nuts.

I platted the M1 it the other day. I like the M14 more, the extra two rounds are a godsend.

I normally go for headshots with both weapons, and I've become pretty good at them, it's really the only way to remain competitive with all the automatic weapons out there.

I love counter sniping people with the M14, makes the wookies rage like no other. Once had half a team switch M14's since I kept decking them with it. Some were decent, but most tried using it like their normal assault rifles.

I don't know, the M14 and M1 Garand have a great sense of appeal for me, it feels good coming out on top in a match when you're at a disadvantage most of the time.

Slow rate of fire
Moderately high recoil
Small capacity magazines
Terrible iron sights (M14 only) for long range

I get a kick out of winning firefights with supposedly inferior weapons, the Thompson is especially fun to run around with, it's greatest saving grace is the almost nonexistent recoil, I think the only other SMG I can think of that is similar is the Uzi and PP2000 (Which both are my preferred Engineer weapons )

The Thompson just sounds so cool I can almost ignore its flaws.

You know, I never really encountered the issues people have with it. I do great with it most of the time. Then again, I think it may also be due to the fact that I tend to aim a little high, mid chest to shoulders so I get head shots quite a bit.

The minimal recoil it has is easy enough to manage and in short 2 or 3 round bursts you can remain reasonably accurate at long range. It's my second best weapon for a reason

It just feels like a gimped XM8C to me, not enough DPS.

Funny you mention the XM8, my best friend loves the thing, I personally can't stand the gun, I'd take the Uzi or PP2000 over the XM8 unless I had to get the star for it.

I must be a masochist or something for using the underdog weapons (The M14 not so much) It's just you don't see people using the M14, M1 Garand or M1A1 Thompson too much. 90% of the time I'm being pegged by some sort of LMG or AR. Only gun I'll lose in CQC even if I fire first that isn't a shotgun is the VSS which I don't consider a sniper rifle, it's a damn SMG with a long range scope. Such a BS weapon, I really hope they don't make it an automatic sniper rifle in BF3. Last I saw it looks like it's an Assault weapon.

Fuck year, VSS. And yeah, the AS VAL in BF3 is basically the same thing and is an assault weapon.

I'm not one to keep myself from using a weapon that will give me an edge, but I do consider it a BS weapon in most circumstances. Great as an assault wookie weapon when I need to remain undetected, but I feel dirty using it.

Biggest downside to the VSS is it's pitiful ammunition reserves. You have to have an assault running around baby sitting you practically the entire match if you go assault wookie with it.

I usually am running around with a Thompson as an assault wookie anyway, so it doesn't really effect me.

Glad it's an assault weapon now, though I am curious to how it will work. It uses sub sonic 9mm rounds does it not? It'll be interesting to see how it will stack up with the other AR's, wonder if it's still suppressed as a standard feature.

I use ammo upgrade so I don't have this problem. The 6x, I think, is far more handy than a 4x or red dot.

Subsonic, uranium depleted, 9x39mm rounds, and yes, it is suppressed. I believe the suppressor is built on the weapon, actually, though I don't feel like fact checking.

that thins has worse hit detection than the g3, 2/5 bullets fired i belive are non-existant, the hip spread is the worst of all smgs, the mag size needs to be 50, and the recoil makes it so you can only hit thing from 5 feets away decently.

such a horrible platinum, glad its overwith, the only satisfaction i got was that i knew i was using a shity gun better than most people

Maybe it's just one of those weapons that I click well with, I know some people who do fantastic with weapons that I simply suck at. the AN-94 Abaken for example I'm constantly getting mauled by other players who use it, yet I can't seem to get a kill with it.

Bad hit detection guns i think rely on a good connection.

Weird, I like it, so in the end that's what counts right? Connection may have something to do with it, my two friends can't use the Thompson for crap, my 360 is practically sitting on our wireless router lag is usually rare unless I'm torrenting something.

everyone has their niche gun. mine is prolly the pkm, byas's is the uzi, if i suits you, you'll know.

Actually, tried the PKM with x4 just for the laughs, it's surprisingly stable as far as recoil in concerned and the irons are incredible. Normally use the M249 or MG3 but the PKM is certainly one of my most favorite LMG's. People Killing Machine FTW!

Tallness did you play Battlefield 2 back in the day? I remember when the PKM was the go to gun for every support player. Damn thing was freaking lethal and had the coolest audio out of all the LMG's. I remember me and a whole squad would go PKM to harrass the helicopters that would come flying in trying to flag rape, 5 of us focus firing usually could bring one down if they weren't paying attention rather quickly.

Ah you would have had some fun with it lol. Was the only LMG that could hurt aircraft in an significant amounts. at medium range, provided all shots landed, one 100 round belt could nearly destroy a helicopter from 100% health if I recall.
