Ok so I took the kids shopping for the soccer gear I mention in yesterdays post. They each got a pair of cleats, shin guards, and socks. It cost a little over $100.00. Not to bad I guess but still! When I played basketball you just had to show up.

$100!?!?!? It's a good thing you like those little buggers! Back in my day we didn't have all this fancy shoes and shingard noise, and we had to walk to practice. Uphill both ways in two feet of snow!

HAHA I hear you! I didn't play soccer though so I'm not sure what the requirments where when I was a kid. I know playing basketball you just showed up wearing your sneakers.

It was fun though seeing them get all excited walking around with their gear. They thought they where big time.

I remember being the happiest 11 year old in the world when my mom bought me an official bowlers glove.

I remember I dropped like $150 on a new skateboard setup for Little D. I consulted with one of my skater coworkers and got him some pretty top notch **** for an 11 year old. He was jazzed. Nothing like buying **** for ya kids man.

It was fun. The crazy thing is we first went to a play it again sports and figured to just get them some used stuff since they have never played before. Then we went to Dicks. The new stuff at Dick's was cheaper than the used stuff. CRAZY MAN.

You should also be thankful they don't want to dirt bike.
Not counting the bike, or the helmet, or the boots, you would be spending well over 200 bucks.

Heh, I meant American Football, but I played goalie on my Soccer teams. Was a lot of fun, though my worst sports injury came from that when I broke my hand playing.

Well I played Basketball as a lad and we didn;t need anything special to play.

It will be fun. THey are excited to start on Thursday.

I play high school baseball right now, and I dropped 200 on a top of the line bat last year. Now I found out they changed the rules, and its illegal. I gotta go spend another 150-200 on a bat, and 100 or so on a new first base glove, if I ever feel like getting a new one. Then size 15 cleats arent cheep, either.

Its a Demarini Vendetta 09, split barrel, bottom carbon/composite, the top sc3 alloy. In short, when I make contact, (like I did all season) the ball is going to go very, very far. And they consider it a danger to the pitcher, because its in his face in about .3 seconds after the pitch. Ive actually had some hit RIGHT at me on the mound, and its the scariest shit ever. A ball going about 100 mph at your face. Its like getting shot at... lol

Oh god this. I love pitching, but getting the ball hit right back at you is the worst thing ever. I blame video games for being able to get out of the way though luckily.

We were just talking about bats in a meeting so maybe you'll know, but didn't a bat maker get sued for something regarding a pitcher getting hit?

I think so. Ive heard of some coaches who died in BP, but they were stupid. I have heard of lots of kids getting nailed on the mound, though.

I remember helping one of my friends practice her batting at softball before a big game of hers once. Even though I was throwing underhand for her, it still hurt like hell when the ball went flying at like a perfect 90 degree angle into my junk.

Now it wasn't going near 80 MPH or anything like that. But still those softballs are HUGE, and extremally hard and thick. So getting hit in the junk with one aint fun.

Soap, Well I don;t care what it is if it hits your junk its going to hurt whether its a golf ball to a bowling ball. Ball to ball contact is bbbaaadddd

I once nailed this guy at 3rd who was giving me crap Directly in the balls. He still hates me....
