It's not about non-conformity. I put time into the music I like and listen to, whether it's death metal or psy-trance, from finding it and other similiar artists, or to supporting a scene in person at live shows at clubs or underground squats. I don't just turn on MTV or the radio and listen to the fixation of the day.

Ten years from now, I'll still be listening to what thrilled me this year, as I am currently listening to what thrilled me nearly ten years ago, when I started digging around outside the mainstream.

The average listener that only takes in music from popular sources, will most likely not.
