Its out on 360 now. Any of you guys plan on getting this? Ive played through it a few times already and am started a new play-through for the new content yesterday. Would be cool to have people to talk to about this game finally.

Nice. I suggest starting on normal, as the starting difficulty is brutal at times. Well at least is on the PC version. Let me know how you like it.

From what Ive seen they have done an excellent job porting it over. Easily the best looking console game out.

Dark Souls is harder for sure. But there are a few very brutal fights in the first 25% of the game on high difficulty. I had to put it down to normal pretty early when I first played it haha. I wont spoil anything, but it does get easier once you reach level ten or so.

I may get it, but not right. I have a friend who bought it and was talking about it last night. Sounds pretty cool.

So far it's pretty fantastic.

I'll add more later, but I can say if you like adventure/RPG games you shouldn't pass on Witcher 2.

I've been having a boner for the Witcher games since I read about the first one, but never got a decent PC, and I don't know when I'll finally get one. I'm getting it this weekend, hopefully.

And Dark Souls is harder? I'll have to put the game on the hardest difficulty then...

Dark Souls harder for sure. The beginning of Witcher on hard is no cakewalk though. First ten hours or so are really a challenge, but gets easy exponentially as you level.

It'll be enough, I can't take it when they are stupidly easy Razz

By the way, how good is going for alchemy, in your experience? I always go for a warrior type, but I'd really like to mix it up by using sword skills mainly, supported heavily by alchemy. And maybe a tiny bit of magic.

I've only done the Sword and Alchemy path. Which is nice because you can make a bunch of sweet oils for your sword.

All right. I'll start with that. Thanks!

Just to clarify, Alchemy and Sword are two different paths.

The oils you can make are pretty sweet.

I need to sit down and KEEP playing the game though... I started reading the books yesterday and those are really keeping my attention away from this fantastic gem of a game.

Is it necessary to play the first one or are they not really related?

The stories are very much connected. You can find the story online.

Plus the new Intro movie explains the whole game in one bad ass 2 minute segment.

How I describe Witcher 2 so far.
Want more detail? Just go read one of the tons of glowing reviews out there praising the game. They're pretty much right.

-The best story-driven adventure/RPG style game since... I'm not sure when...
-The good so outweighs the bad that you probably won't give a shit.
-Deserves all the tons of praise it receives and all the 90+% reviews.
-How do Bioware and Bethesda hold onto their reputations when there are other, relatively unknown, companies that can make shit this good?

Metal, the game is based off a book Razz

As to your question regarding Bethesda and Bioware... Marketing. CD Projekt is tiny compared to them, it has no way of competing against them when it comes to mass appeal. These guys need and deserve all the support they can get, they keep making good games without wasting a fuckload on stupid marketing.

Thanks. I may check out the book just because "Witcher" is such a strangely fun word to me for some reason. I picture Geralt saying "I'm gonna go witchify the shit out of that monster/chick over there..."

It is a really impressive game for not having that developer hype behind it.
Like I said it's not perfect by a long ways... but overall it's just so damn good.

There are books?

There are five books in a "The Witcher Saga" and then there are short stories. I don't think all five of the books are translated into English yet. Or, at least, I can't find any information about them.

The Last Wish and Blood of Elves are the only two I have found. I need to look around online. The games happen after the events of the fifth book.

If you are interested, the author's name is Andrzej Sapkowski (had to look at the cover to get that right). I'm almost done with the first book and I just started reading it today. Awesome book so far.

Edit: Ah. Someone already posted a wiki link. Did not see that.

Finally got around to installing the EE update that I pre-downloaded and guess what, half of it was corrupted. Decided to just uninstall both and redownload the entire game from gog.
