Anyone play this game yet?

Was thinking about picking it up, looks like it's been scoring well and the other Max Payne games were awesome.


EDIT: Shit, I just watched a multiplayer video and it looks fucking awesome. I'm getting this game RIGHT FUCKING NOW!

I've really been wantin it too....this,and Witcher 2 are on my must get list....grrr....but then in a couple months it's Borderlands 2 and the whole list of clusterfuck big titles coming out Razz maybe Ill wait for em to be 20 bucks in a year

Im on the fence about it. I have seen so many mixed reviews for it. Some giving it under 5 out of 10, others giving it straight 10s. I don't know to be honest.

It just reminds me of The Specialists since I haven't seen a game able to pull off online bullet time since then. And that was one of my all time favorite MP games. Although this doesn't have any of the wall jumping that The Specialists had...

I still haven't played the MP yet, just the single player. Really cool presentation and action packed.

Only flaw to me so far is the cover system for two reasons:
1. It exists(fuck cover systems)
2. No rolling from cover to cover.

It would also be nice if you could roll off of a dive and shit rather than be stuck on the ground, but I suppose the benefits you get from a slo-mo dive are worth it.

That looked pretty good. Honestly gave me that same vibe that I got from the RDR multiplayer trailer. I'll consider getting this, though i'll have to play the first to first.

So I just played this games multiplayer for a bit...

I dunno if it's even really a matter of balance that makes me dislike it...

The controls are really wonky on it, you can't shoot downward at someone from a window without taking cover. Never noticed anything like this in single player, maybe just because it's played a lot differently.

Everyone's names show up above their heads, meaning everyone knows where you are if you are anywhere on their screen. This is kind of necessary to cut down on campers because otherwise everyone would be hiding in cover, but still ruins it.

And honestly I think it might just be hard to make a good 3PS multiplayer game. Also hard to make a good multiplayer game that has a cover system, because cover systems are fucking stupid. Seriously the disadvantage of being covered from all the bullets should be that you can't see, such a terrible thing to put in a multiplayer game.


I'll give it another shot but right now it seems pretty mediocre to me. Especially compared to the awesome single player.

Fuck you Rockstar. This games launch is worse than Batman AC.

I cant even play the game because I get an error for Vista Service Pack2.....Im running Windows 7 with everything up to date. This is a widespread problem I guess. Rockstar are truly idiots.

Yes its a bit absurd. Im actually really annoyed at this. I have done about two billion workarounds that should work, and no dice. Even submitted a ticket so well see.

Its running fine on my machine.

HOWEVER, it seems like they ported the aiming straight from the console. The vertical and horizontal movement is off...

We don't need hand holding (actually its more like handcuffing more than anything...) for headshot leveled shots!

Still cant play. I want my money back. This is an absolute rip.

In the Steam forums you will see tons of people having issues like mine. I got a reply from Rockstar "tech" support telling me to uninstall my anti virus as that may be causing the issue.

Running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

Run the game and get and error that say OSVISTA Service Pack 1 required.

No shit thats whats happening...

Makes me glad I waited Razz (that really sucks though. I hope steam gives you a refund. Rockstar pc games have such massive issues, I can not even play GTA4)

Yes, yes, and yes. Seems I have some unknown error where the game loads but crashes at the start screen. From the googling I did it might be something to do with IE9. Have not gotten around to redownloading GTA4 and trying to fix it though.

So I would say that I spoke too soon saying multiplayer sucks. Just played it for a couple more hours and thought it was pretty fun. You just have to be careful with your shots and not just pull the trigger like crazy like I was doing before.

I did a total reinstall on MP3 and still no dice. I put it another ticket to Rockstar, this one heated, and I put in a ticket for Steam demanding a refund.

Shame...I was REALLY looking forward to this game, and now I could give a shit less.

I don't think its as bad as ghost recon advanced warfighter on pc. Graw 1 and 2 have game breaking glitches that are guaranteed to occur and you must look up how to fix otherwise you simply can't play them. The games have been out for like 4 years and no patch to fix.

This definitely is console port just from looking at skipping cutscenes (which is impossible). The game assumes that you are playing on a crappy 7 year old system, aka consoles, so the loading time for a level is calculated (or predeermined to be more precise) from console stand-point making it impossible to skip cutscenes as they are all designed for level loading.

Cutscenes are INCREDIBLY LONG, and after the first playthrough, it becomes an absolute time waiting annoyance... Even Mass Effect series (maybe only 3?) with LIMITED skip ability is vastly better than this...

PC gaming is awesome. because of steam sales I own the entire ghost recon franchise, metro 2033, company of heroes, amnesia the dark descent, psychonauts, limbo, and portal and I've only spent $15.00.

When you finish the game (maybe available from the beginning but I did not check), you can do score attacks. This skips the intro cutscenes for each chapter, but the intermittent cutscenes are still unskippable.

It sort of kills the momentum that you had it going...

Score attack unlocks unlimited bullet time cheat (its an option you can choose) in the chapter selection menu, if you get all gold or platinum medal.
