[Skyrim] Steel plate is superior to Dwarven?

So I upgraded both Steel Plate and Dwarven armor to flawless (Don't have enough for Legendary yet) and noticed that Steel plate is slightly better. Am I missing something here? I was always under the impression that Dwarven was superior to Steel.

Steel Plate is an Advanced armour, you need the Advanced Smithing perk in order to make it, which requires a higher level than Dwarven Smithing.

Who cares how good it is? The Dwarven looks cooler, and thats all that really matters.

looks are the best, you can smith any armour set up to 567 rating, so just choose what looks the best.

eg i wear Nightingale Armour when i have a full set of OP'd Elven Armour back at my house.
