This was my experience as well when I made the transition to PC. Just keep plugging away, you will get the hang of it.

What kind of mouse are you using?

Optic mouses are best IMO, at least the decent gaming ones. My friend had this cheapo one and I swear, it was impossible to make precision shots because if you tried to make fine adjustments, the reticule would jump past their heads due to sensitivity issues. Even after fiddling with the options he had to go out and buy a new one. After that, his game play was like night and day, he was actually able to HIT his targets lol.

That's what happened to me in the BF3 beta. Went out and bought a new mouse after my first game haha

I use a Razer Naga. I love the damn thing. Its kind of small, but the 12 buttons on the side more than make up for it. Quality product.

The three buttons on my G500 are perfect for me, I think. I've got them mapped to toggle between primary/secondary weapons and the first two gadgets. I don't play any MMOs or anything so I don't know what I'd do with more buttons than that.

My graphics card stops responding or something after a while playing. It's weird because I can play this on high settings with decent fps but i still get this problem playing on low settings. I don't think my graphics card is overheating or anything.

You've updated your drivers, right? Could be running out of VRAM, I suppose. What graphics card do you have?

I think the drivers should be up to date because the laptop is so new

I can run Metro 2033 at max settings with zero problems, I'd think that'd be enough to play BF3 singleplayer on low. I get like 60fps on low settings... i think. how can i see my FPS?

In BF3, use the ~ key to pull up the dev console or whatever and type: render.drawfps 1
Type it again changing the 1 to a 0 to turn off the framerate counter. You could also download FRAPS to see your framerate in all games.

Download a program called FRAPS. Its the go to for FPS monitoring and video recording/screenshot. Its free online.

Also do you monitor your temps?

If not DL MSI afterburner and see what your are getting playing BF3 to make sure its not a temp issue. Which it could be.

Definitely check your drivers. IIRC AMD's drivers for the 7000 series were crap at first.

Yea man you just need the newest AMD drivers. Thats all.

I would fill out that link I sent you and update to what they recommend. That is if you dont have it already.

theres a lot of angry people on the internet who have this graphics card and cant seem to find the right drivers because AMD hasn't updated them in a long time because they don't like switchable graphics.

Apparently the problem is the clock and core speeds get stuck and can't get out of their idling state or something or other. So I just set afterburner to change the speeds to something else that isn't the default and now it seems to be working just fine.

nvm it froze again.

gpu usage percent goes up to 99% and then it stops. heat is fine.

What are your temps?

That is really strange man. What driver version does MSI say you have?

Have you checked and seen if anybody else has had similar problems with BF3?

gpu temp is like 44 C

well i have no idea what the hell i did but i installed a bunch of drivers on top of some other drivers for different cards and so far minecraft, which is the only other game to make my graphics card crash, hasn't crashed yet.

Now i will try it with BF3. Wish me luck.

Ducksaws, if you want a decent mouse that is not priced too high, I recommend some of the older Logitech mouse like MX518 (which is in fact what I used in earlier days of my competition period). Then I changed to G5 when it came out and stuck with it until I quit competition.

Now I'm using "Cordless" G700 corded. LoL

my mouse says logitech on it. not sure what it is. its old.

Also sometimes PC gaming take some time to get working with some games. All the hardware configurations causes this. But its always really satisfying when you fix your problem.
