Honestly I've not played too much of it, but the bits I have, I enjoyed (Despite dying several dozen times to the first freaking boss). I started off as a Knight (Because I like the whole sword and board style of combat)

I picked the bandit. I just want to say starting out i kinda liked the game and then it grew on me like crazy and i love it.. I just recently got Smough armor and it's so fugly but awesome at the same time and the Smough & Ornstein fight was really hard but fun at the same time.

Not sure if you know but the starting class thing is just a template you can still build your character however you want to.

The Wanderer I think. Because

1. The only thing that matters when picking a class in any RPG is if you think it looks cool or not. Choosing based off of what is more powerful makes you a ninny-muggins.

2. I thought the wanderer had the coolest armor and sword.

In fact I'm at the end of the game and I'm still using mostly original armor and my stating weapon upgraded because they still look cool.

How can you resist Smough's Moobs armor?! I feel sorry for anyone that dies to me..

I did an Ornstein and Smough run with a friend. Lulzy times when people invaded us.

I heard of people doing that.. That sounds awesome people are probably thinking "WTF" when they see you.

Lesse here.

1) Wanderer. Started off DEX, but I have too much into to be useful and not enough melee stats. Test weapons now mostly.

2) Thief. DEX and faith, Warrior of Sunlight. Nothing too special.

3) Pyromancer. 16/16 STR/DEX, for when I want to go high level. Enough poise to fight well while underweight. No INT or FAITH, thisay change if I have enough stats to use a magic weapon buff.

4) Bandit. Haven't decided on attack stat, but it's going to be a Darkmoon Blade for sure, so FAITH is a given.

I think I was wanderer, used the drake sword till I got the lightning spear and upgraded it,I forget which armor I was wearing but I used the spider shield upgraded for the rest of the game....

that big evil redish castle place where you fight smough and all those dragons and knights and shit......omg,that bridge part was annoying as fuck, had to get some people to join me and cross it,then that's where the pvp fucking greifers like to hang out and insta kill me but yet I couldn't lock on or anything since he was invisible and kept doing automatic backstabs

if somebody ever invaded me after that,I'd just jump off a cliff or something...fuck it lol

I thought there really should have been an option to turn that pvp bullshit off....co op would of been a nice matchmaking thing tho

I've yet to get that far, I'm looking forward to buying this game again for PC come august 24th (a nice late B-day present to myself Razz)

Question for you veterans. How long did it take you to get the riposte stuff down? I tend to try and counter too soon and it leaves me wide open to attacks.

PVE parries are easier than PVP parries, though still difficult. The Black Knights and their slow animations make me cry. It's just a matter of practicing the intervals. In PVE you want to parry the first hit most of the time, unless it's like Gwyn or something, which is easier to parry on his second swing.

PVP parries are hard to master, as you don't have a way to practice. Different weapons swinging at different speeds, even intentional delays, can mess you up bad. If you do get into a PVP fight, you really shouldn't swing twice by spamming the RB/R1 button. That gets countered by the easiest PVP parry method, the setup.

Due to lag, you have to start the parry at near exactly when the swing starts, not when the move is about to hit you. If your opponent does attack more than 2 times just swinging away, block the first hit, and parry right away. I've had the most practice with this on greatsword type weapons (claymore, etc), so I really messed up the timing when I faced a Furysword user.

Mix up you attacks, roll frequently, use strong attacks. Keep your opponent guessing.

Though you have 2 attack triggers, you have up to 14 different commands for each weapon, one hand and 2 hand, and some of those do a different move when pressed again.

Ty, I've died a bunch of times already due to trying to practice my timing. So far my most hated enemy are those bastards that throw fire bombs at you.

If you're talking about the guys on the roof, run across the way to fight the 3 zombies. i try to kills the axe ones with backstabs so the sword one can't kill me during the animation.

If you're talking about the ones who throw straight at you, weave around, they don't track so well.

And last time I played a knight I remebered being over 50% weight at start. You may want to take off a piece of armor or 2 to move quicker.

I invested every other level into endurance, so my weight isn't an issue at lvl 13

Kenshiro

Kenshiro

What are your stats so far, and do you have a general idea what style you're going for?

Artimise Flare

Artimise Flare

Sword and board for the most part. I don't remember what my stats are at the moment. Come to think of it, I think I invested more into endurance, my stam cap is almost capped to 100.

Here are my stats:

Vit: 15
Atu: 10
End: 14
Str: 13
Dex: 11
Res: 10
Int: 9
Fai: 11

Lessee here.

Around SL13, start with knight, takes 5 levels to 100 stamina.

Well, that 5 points in END so 3 elsewhere.

Stamina isn't the same as weight. IIRC knights get the knight set, broadsword and tower kite shield.

Your stamina bar may be fine, but being overweight is risky. You can roll, but it's more of a flopping tumble. When you can, take off the helm and gauntlets. That leaves the stronger parts on while giving you medium roll, which got me through quite a bit. Your weight also affects your regular movement speed and stamina regeneration.

Did a little better, but still getting my ass kicked by this crazy 2h club wielding thing in a tower. Was doing ok with it until I rolled forward instead of to the side by accident.

Then there is that damn lizard thing on the bridge and the annoying crossbow shooter in the tower that you can't kill.

JrTapia1991

JrTapia1991

that club wielding thing was hard as hell to kill for me....didn't kill him till way later when I came through there.I liked how the world was all interconnected like on metroid

im a knight
1) its a freakin knight
2) ok stats
3) used the armor and first sword for quite some time

M'kay, seems like you're in the Parish now. You don't actually need to kill the red drake. If you have the stats, you could shoot his tail from the lower part of the bridge to get the Drake Sword. If you don't you're going to hve to use a bow anyways.

If you kicked the ladder down this is going to be easy. Climb up, go up the step and go back down as he does his flame breath attack.

Run back up as soon as the flames clear and go on the ledge on the opposite side of the stairs up to the bridge. Shoot an arrow at him (you don't need the stats to use it, it just forces him to land).

If you want the Drake Sword, run to the right of the bridge, 2 hand your broadsword and swing 2 or 3 times at the tail, then keep running into the arch with the statue. If you reach it he will fly away temporarily. You can now go back to pick up the other items on the bridge. A few souls and the Claymore, which is possibly my favorite weapon. You need at least 12 STR and 10 DEX to 2 hand it, and 16 10 to one hand it, same as the Drake Sword.

One time I did run past the 2h club wielding thing, and ran into a field filled with a crap ton of crazy ice meteor slingers (They sure exploded like meteors as least). I never stood a chance lol. (I was able to open the door since I chose the master key as a gift)

chunckylover53

I didn't even know you could fight that drake, might have to go back there.

Kenshiro

Kenshiro

Wait never mind that's Havel the Rock. Yeah, you don't want to fight him until later, you simply do not do enough damage.

Your goal is actually in the same tower as the club guy, but up instead of down.

That would be the first real boss, but after you go through the gate, turn to your right. There should be a ladder with 2 crossbow guys who make the fight a lot harder than it should be. Kill them first.

You can also use the tower to do a plunging attack on the boss if you run back there and climb up. Just don't take too long or he smashes you to death.
