I have the worst luck

I read online that quarry mining is a pretty good way to go. Apparently you can get like 7 stacks of coal, 3 stacks of iron, and a good amount of gold, redstone, lapis and diamonds. I guess you can even find abandoned mineshafts. I decided to try it on my singleplayer world. I've spent about 5 hours digging, gotten 1 stack of goal and wasted about 2 of iron just making pickaxes. I'm at layer 25 and have found only 4 gold. This is a waste of time, man

I usually do, I just wanted to try quarrying. I think I'm gonna continue it until about layer 13ish and then start branching off in every direction. I just haven't had good luck with finding giant caves on my current seed

branch mining is by far the best way to go. i find enough gold iron and coal from branch mining away, and the % of hitting diamonds is higher.

I just mine small strip mines until I hit a cave system, that works well for me.

Yea, I'm all for that in multiplayer with /home but I always get lost on the way out in singleplayer. I felt like quarrying would solved this problem. It did, but it hasn't been very profitable yet. I'm almost at layer 13, then I'll just make tunnels off of the quarry and be smart about finding my way out

i have developed a way to get more stuff from quarrying

1 find an entry point at ground level
2 dig twenty to thirty blocks down
3 dig outward five blocks and place a torch and repeat until youve reached desired width
4 do the same with all sides and make a reverse pyramid going down then when ready make three more adjacent to the first with the central point between all of them being where you started the first
5 make all four pyramids one giant pyramid
6 profit

My technique is just to dig...and avoid lava/cave systems ^^'

Nah man, you've gotta explore caves and dig around lava pools. That's where I find all my diamonds

But lava is dangerous, and caves have mobs ><

Carry tons of torches and place them all over. And put gravel/cobble/dirt in the lava. Boom, diamonds.

I just go down till bedrock, go up about 8, then I mine in one direction, come back, make a right turn, mine forward again so I have a big right angle. Then I make a latice grid out of the square.

see, I've been mining AT bedrock this whole time. Is that a bad place?

the best place to mine is at 12 height

this is where diamonds are still able to spawn and in is one block above the level at which lava spawns which means you can't mine straight into it

Even better way of dealing with lava: carry a waterbucket, place the water above it, turn it all into obsidian, refill the bucket with the source block. Boom

The only problem is that you can't always react in time.

I always have a bucket ready as well as cobble to fill holes as fast as possible

I just have my water bucket on hand. Never know when you're going to need it.

just carry a Fortune 3 pick around. makes mining diamonds a lot easier
