Not many if I remember.

So far I've managed to document all the consistencies for the bolt actions maximum OHK range for the first dot on the x8-x7 scopes

I'll be moving onto the second dot if possible tomorrow and then will be working with sound suppressors.

So far from my observations the ranking for rifles that have the longest range is as follows from highest to lowest

M98B
JNG-90
Sv98
L96
M40

These were confirmed in three consecutive head shots at their respective distances. Once I have all the footage, I'll try to edit it and upload it to youtube Smile

I wish they would just put a damn range finder in the game.

I never play recon. My least used class on xbox and pc. Sniping is too weak in this game to be of much use. It's the same damage factor as it was in BC1, except in BC1 it took half an assault rifle magazine to the face to kill someone.

When I play recon I don't use the BA anymore. I've used them in the past and done pretty well, but they are kind of frustrating and useless for the most part.

I think it depends on how its used.

I've had quite a bit of success when I'm along with friends. Typically I try to cover them as they move up and point out where enemy infantry and such is moving, it's also good for when the enemy is trying to snipe themselves.

I use the semi auto sniper rifles when I really have to get close and personal, but for the most part, I'm at a decent distance where I can still cover my squadmates and be close enough to assist in capping the flags at the same time.

The video I'm creating hopefully will help people who have trouble with the class. I'll probably be doing a video covering semi autos as well.

Like I said, I can snipe. I do well, but my problem is I always feel like I should be doing more. I'm always tempted to move closer, "maybe just a bit closer" i say to myself, and suddenly I'm running around with a pistol because I get board waiting for people to come into my kill zone. Still, nobody FEARS the sniper in this game, I want my enemies to fear the next time they cross me, and the BAs just don't offer that on consoles.

I don't really want enemy players to fear me, I want them to get pissed off and make mistakes. Many players seek revenge on a sniper, nothing seems to bug a foot pounder more than getting picked off over and over again. Jets and tanks for the most part are not something any class can handle, especially jets and choppers with ace pilots. The sniper though, is something they can kill, something they can vent their frustrations on.

It's a mental game for me, and when the situation calls for it, I'll switch to a PDW or what have you if necessary. However there is a stigma that follows a "sniper", one that can be exploited if you've got the skills.

I do understand you though, on console the combat is much more compact, and the fewer the players, the more "aware" (?) players tend to be. If you snipe someone, typically they'll instantly have an idea where you are, on PC there is so much chaos going on, it can be a bit more difficult to figure out what's going on at times, especially if you have lost aerial dominance.

"snipers" are not feared in this game because 80% of them are the camping type that will sit up in the mountains hardly getting any kills. A proper Marksmen/Recon player though, tends to be a force to be reckoned with IMO, combine that with a good squad that they're talking to, and things can get interesting.

I enjoy it, I've always preferred medium-long to long range fighting anyway, always been my cup of tea, though I can see why it may not be for others.

If you come to the PC Terry, look me up, Echo196, I'll be sure to keep an eye on ya best I can so no one knifes ya lol.

Statistically speaking, all of the BA's, barring the M98, should have the same OHK distance.

The only differences between them are bullet velocity and RPM.

Anyway, I enjoy Recon occasionally, but it's generally overshadowed by the other classes in terms of general usefulness. I'll play it on infantry-oriented maps if I know someone else (Byas) will play medic.

using the M40 w/acog,laser,and straight bolt seems to piss people off lol
