I could see myself really liking it after some more play-time. I didn't notice the lag that the gfaqs board is crying a river about....I think they're just mad there's no aim assist.

I found it pissing me off.....but I liked the idea of it being such a challenge.

I just have a feeling it'll die off like pretty much all XBLA games do like Perfect Dark did and that Blackhawk Down game died.

I really agree with these points. It has been probably 6 years since I last played CS and even back then I remember thinking "this game feels ancient". I thought this was supposed to be a new, re-vamped modernized version, but it is just a re-hash of the old one? Why?

I also agree about Valve. What have they even actually made themselves that is good besides Half Life (and that was years and years ago...).

They didn't make Counterstrike. If I remember right that was made by some modder and they bought it from him or hired him.

They didn't make Left 4 Dead. They just bought the company that did make it.

They didn't make Portal. They hired the people that came up with it.
etc...

Plus CS is meant to be a stripped down, no BS, skill based shooter.

I dont get whats so hard to understand about it...

Plus its 15 bucks...not even a full release.

Ah. Now that is a pretty major contribution to gaming. I stand corrected.

Even as a console gamer you have to recognize the giant in Steam haha.

I do wish they would implement a gamerscore kinda system like xbox live. I did enjoy that.

From what I've gathered, if you time the jumps correctly, you can move around the map very quickly and come from unexpected angles.

Apparently, running scripts that automatically did jumping was a thing back then, but this guy could do it without pne incredibly well.

Awww, it looks fun.

It is a bit Quake/UTish though...

Epic needs to make a new UT game that doesn't suck.

The only good thing about Steam is the discounts IMO.

I fucking hated it when it first came out, I didn't need any other programs running to slow my game performance now. It doesn't really make a difference with my new rig, but it's still just something where they can control all your games and isn't really necessary at all.

That being said I love Valve and everything they stand for. They've got a good system, make shit free and people will love you for it.

Well I have no problems with it now for the most part. It's pretty convenient and does have its benefits like the messaging and all that.

But back then I was struggling to keep CS run at 15FPS. So I didn't like more stuff running. Plus they didn't get the messaging system working until like a year after release...

Yes I wasn't around for Steam's launch.

I've only been on Steam for a year or so....

< Steam newb

I quit PC gaming in 2004 so I wasnt really around Steam when it first launched.

But I love what it has become.
