[PC] Will be placing order for another ASUS GTX 680 Direct CU II Top

Was considering getting 27 inch 3d monitor from ASUS or 512 gb SSD from Samsung, but I have decided that I am gonna go with another 680 for SLI.

Been experiencing below 60 fps quite frequently in many games (of course, max graphics with custom settings if applicable), and above 60 fps or 3d would not make much sense for me if I cannot get above 60 fps all the time without any excuses. 512gb Samsung 830 was considered for higher capacity and speed, but this one just felt like throwing money at it for no real gain, so scrapped that as well.

I've done some reading online and seems like 700 series will not even be announcing the release dates until the next march, and is expected late next year or early 2014, and I can't wait that long.

Just talked to the ASUS, and they seem to be making this card on order now, so its going to take another 2 weeks (hopefully this time, it arrives in time) for it to be in my hands.

What games are you dipping below 60 on?

I still hardly run into games that dip me below 60 with my 580

A lot of games dip below 60 at times (with vsync its more apparent), including BL2.

In BL2 for example, its not noticeable in regular cases, but in more larger space'd maps, with lots of objects with longer drawing distances it starts to dip. More apparent with multiplayer with everyone throwing explosives everywhere.

But it may be due to the fact that I play most games with custom settings. I would like to be able to turn on some insane AA modes once I get the extra 680.

With BL2 maxed with PHSYX on high, I usually maintain about 55 FPS. But drop to low 30's during the madness.

Thats basically the issue here.

I would want to have 60+ fps, without ANY excuses (well, sometimes other factors can involve, but I would like to minimize the excuse), before I consider a monitor above 60hz or 3D.

How much did it cost you to make your PC storm? Seem to always see topics about you buying new parts

I don't even know.

I'm gonna calculate something up, and see (some parts are old, so it will contain some error margin).

1080p.

There is no reason you need SLI 680's at 1080p. I understand the draw of extreme AA, but at 1080p you can barely see the difference. I would say you are better off getting a better display.

I'm probably gonna get monitor as well, but I would like to have no excuse 60+ FPS regardless of using extreme AA or normal AA. It's basically which one I'm getting first, not which one I have to choose to get, and give up other.

Monitor is more readily available in my market, and the card is only order made now, so I'm placing the order early.

Everything (I think, and windows not included) including monitor and accessory comes out to 2611.

While I haven't been watching the FPS, BL2 hasn't stuttered for me yet. Sleeping Dogs demo on the other hand....

Sleeping Dogs with AA on Extreme is incredibly taxing

As he had mentioned, its AMD optimized, which is hard to see these days, and SSAA is more native to AMD cards as well.

Also, I have decided that I am not buying dual GPU card anymore, unless there is ZERO issue with it.

Dual GPUs are not well supported in many games, not in terms of performance but in terms of graphical glitches.

I'm pretty sure everyone already has expected this.

It seems like everywhere you order from just messes with you.

The high end PC market is almost non-existent in Asia.

You have to remember that the standard of living is MUCH~~~~~~~ lower in Asia compared to that you enjoy in US. General public does not have enough money to even afford decent housing in many cases. Its not exactly a market that will be looking for luxury products that will not show to the public (they DO buy LOTS~~~ of luxury items, but they are more like cars and jewellery & decoration).

There are more than plenty mid range products, that actually is OVERWHELMINGLY overpowered compared to the types of games that an average Asian gamers would play as most Asian developers develop their software to match this range of products, unlike many western AAA developers whom strive to push the boundaries of hardware capabilities of higher end products. Due to this, many do not feel the need to get high end products, hence even smaller market for the companies to make profit off of it.

I just prioritize my budgets for my entertainment.

And among the entertainments, I prioritize PC first.

let us know how it is when you get the two cards all setup. That'll be some beastly rig.

2. I really should not be this lazy, as if I removed the second 680 and installed the wires again, it would have been MUCH easier, and MUCH tidier.
