It's not bad.
But it's not amazing either. For 30 bucks it's pretty good, but I wouldn't pay 60.
Spawns can be crap. It can also spawn you (rarely) slightly outside of the map. You won't die or anything, and you can still shoot people/be shot from there, but you can't get back in (arenas!!) until you die/self respawn.
Gun customization is deep, but tedious, like other games. You need kills to get unlocks. The gun you start with (and all attachments) is also the vanilla gun. This means that you have to unlock iron sights or lower power sights for example.
Secondaries are class based. Snipers get G18s, most people get a regular pistol, Pointman gets a 4 round shotgun. All of these have unlimited reloads. Not customizable from what I can see.
You can use dual sight scopes. Unlike CoD, the most of them switch real fast. The first semi automatic sniper rifle, for example, gets both a 4x and a red dot on it. You have to switch sights while ADS. Some guns have a scope and an iron sight on the scope itself.
Game modes: You've got TDM, Sector control, Combat Mission, Homerun and Hotspot.
TDM: TDM. Nothing to see here.
Sector control: In a nutshell, Domination and Conquest combined somewhat. Both start with 1 base and then 1 center base to capture. Capping center creates a spawn there.
Combat Mission: Basically Rush Lite. 1 objective per area, 3 areas. Attackers have limited respawns, but gain back lives if they take an objective. Former areas are cut off from defenders, so you can't have people wreaking havoc in the enemy spawn.
Homerun: Something like CTF. Haven't played it yet.
Hotspot: The beta mode. 5 different objectives. Attackers and defenders, infinite lives. First to 3 successful objectives (destroyed or not destroyed) wins. The objectives are randomly picked after each other, but the locations are static.
Buddy system. Stick with your buddy. The healing and resupplying works both ways. You can heal your buddy, or he can go to you and heal himself. Heavy gunners can resupply anyone on their team. You cannot spawn on a buddy who is in danger. So no more of that spawn on squad get killed stuff.
Class customization: Not much. It's basically primary and nationality. Secondaries are set, grenade type is set, support actions (killstreaks) are set.
Snipers get trip proxy mines, Heavy Gunners get 2 sets of spreading micro grenades, Pointman gets 2 flashbangs.
Class abilities:
Medium class
Sniper- deployed spotter
Assault- grenade launcher
Heavy Class
Demolitions- Tank mode. Can't sprint or prone, but gets damage shield.
Heavy Gunner- LMG deploy. Gets unlimited ammo, but gun barrel can overheat.
Light Class
Pointman- High Power ammo. 30 rounds of stronger bullets. More recoil. I don't know the exact damage, but it's pretty powerful.
SpecOps- Signal Scan. A very brief wallhack that reloads slow.
One glaring issue that I have is that not everyone loads at the same time. This means that some games where I've played in the previous round, my partner (and some other people) have a few points before I've even done loading and spawning in. Kind retarded design there.
It's not a bad game, not a very good game. It's just decent. Not because it's well rounded, but because there are very good things and very bad things about it.
I have played now 20 hours I believe....
It is fun as hell... spawns can be bad, they are random but it is better than being spawn trapped that is for sure.
Also the outside of map spawning...never has once happened to me. It has also just been patched today on serverside.
Recon gets G18 for obvious reasons.
Point has the shotgun because they are meant to get in close.
Gun customization works very well. (not tedious...I enjoy tweaking for more Range or Agility).
The only thing I hate getting rid of the 9+ thing above guns is just annoying but nothing game breaking.
To unlock stuff get kills (20 kills, 100 kills, 200 kills, etc) and unlock the other variant of the gun that is used by another nationality (an AK-103 by OGA, RU, and GROM for example).
They also fixed the Blackhawk spawn sometimes freezing.
But I have played every game type but TDM because meh.
I also played the "hardcore" game-type...its called something else, but I cannot remember. It is actually pretty fun.
Overall I would give the game a 7/10 to a 8/10 ... depends on the gametype. (Hotspot and Combat Mission are 8/10 ... the Homerun one and Domination style one are 7/10)
But the sliding and leak n peek are very well done in this game...it all works. Occasionally there is an invisible wall where you go to shoot...but thats happened I think three times total to me, so I just shifted to right a bit.
