Topic.

The new UI actually looks pretty spiffy. I kinda like it.

Any compatibility issues?

Nothing so far. It crashed once, but I have idea why, and it's been running fine otherwise.

I'll probably try on my next windows reinstall.

I have to flash my SSD anyway, which means wiping SSD clean.

If anything going wrong, I can always just revert back to Win 7.

So far, I've really had no problems with it. It's been running very well, though there were a few minor hiccups. Last night I got home and it would open up from the lock screen, but that and a single crash are the only problems I've had.

Overall, it's a great system. At first the metro interface felt cheesy but it's really cool to use, and I like it. Especially since I can drop my games on there as shortcuts and such. And a cool feature is, it'll remember last-session info after shutting down. for example, I turn on my PC this morning (it boots up so quickly now too) and I click the Google Chrome tile, and it just pops right back to newegg and sec. really nifty feature, that.

thats actually really cool. makes restarting for updates a lot less annoying, eg installing borderlands while i was browsing the web, had to restart and reopen the pages i was looking at.

Ok, see this is something interesting. I left my PC on while I went to take a shower, I get back and the windows are unresponsive. So, what-do, restart it. It took 8 seconds for it to initially wake up when I came back from my shower. Loading the operating system and everything, it took all of 5 seconds to restart.

damn that's nice. Maybe I'll just get windows 8 oem or something when I build my pc.I'm sure it'll grow on me...the speed increase will be welcomed

The speed is definitely a lot better, it feels like it's making my PC run a lot lot cleaner. The frequent restarts aren't perfect, but compared to Windows 7 pro, I'm VERY happy with this. The restarts are a very small tradeoff for a great speed.

Also, the UI for explorer is a little reminiscent of Windows XP. I like that.

Firefox does that already on 7. Desktop shortcuts aren't exactly cutting edge either. :p

I realize that, it's just that the Start Menu now feels like it's a lot more functional than previously. I kinda like the new look, as I can add stuff to it easily.

I didnt like the demo I tried at Best Buy

The new UI is rather snappy though

It's taking me a while to adapt to it. It's a little jarring to make the shift.

Im just like that

I imagine Id get used to it

Same here, though it's starting to grow on me. The new start menu is actually really nice. I like having it so readily available. I don't even need to move my hands while typing.
