[Anime] [Gundam UC] Damn it! Have to wait until the next episode.

Just finished watching the first episode, and the next one is coming out 6 months from the release of the first one, so probably December...

Bandai / Sunrise is going back to the UC era, and I am very happy about it.

Just hope they do not fuck up the background setting, since the period it deals with is in between other series of UC era.

For those who are wondering the period, it is the between of 0093 Char's Counter Attack and Rebellion of Mifty.

I watched it a while ago.

It was good, but waiting 5 months for the sequel was a pain. It ends RIGHT when Mr. B activates the NT-D mode. Stupid cliffhangers.

But the actually transformation was badass.

I also like the first fight, where that SpecOps Jegan ALMOST won.

I read the book so I'm just in for the action parts, tbqh.

BTW if you did not get it, its a photoshopped Char's Counter Attack poster to fake the announcement of Beltorchika Children (the original novel that CCA is based off of). It made SO many people salivate, but of course it was just some troll fishing.

Wasn't BC a novel only, not an animation?

I recently built 00 Raiser Designer Colour Edition.

I want to get MG Hi-Nu. But I still need to finish Limited Edition Exia.

PG Zeta is next on the list, if I have extra money left around after the busy holiday season of games.

And they have no idea what we are talking about.

I always wanted to get a Zeta, but they never shipped out here when I looked. The Amuro Custom looked pretty slick.

If I get REALLY good, I'm planning on buying custom resin for the skin for Zeta to make it into Amuro Custom.

Any of you guys a fan of Macross by any chance?

I'm a fan of Macross as well, though not as much as the Gundam series.

Macross is more personal IMO, while Gundam is largely political with a good chunk of personal.

There is ALWAYS a love/song story in every Macross. And its not really man vs man, its man vs aliens and man + aliens vs aliens.

Gundam is entirely possible, if in the future we really did jam our own long range weapons and had to resort to line of sight, as well as minimum amounts of fuel for maneuverability.

I just like Macross because I grew up with Robotech: The Macross Saga. Then my friend opened up my eyes to the actual Macross series. It kind of reminds me of Star Trek with their space exploration and such, but a bit deeper into Ancient Advance Civilizations and such. Plus I love Jets and I love Mechs.

I've only seen parts of Gundam Wing with Heero, and I've been lagging on watching the new Gundam series so I'll have to check them out.

Also I'm excited for the third Evangelion movie. The 2nd one's ending reminded me so much of Xenogears and I have only gotten into it since watching the first and second movie this year. Can't believe I missed out on that until now.

Gundam Wing was probably first widely introduced gundam series to the western world, but it is not something that I would accept as any particularly good series. I recommend you check out gundam from its origins in UC era.

If you can stand the old animation drawings (and musics,etc) I should start with original Gundam animation or a theater version of it.

Since you are a newer fan, if you cannot get used to the old ones, I would actually suggest you to ditch the Wing for now, and watch Seed and onwards, first then go back to the older ones.

I liked how 0083 started like Top Gun, and I was finishing Zeta, but I got bored and forgot were I left off. Now I have Turn A and both 00 seasons on the comp, as well as parts of ZZ. 08th MS remains one of my favorite animes of all time.

Alex is actually a pretty damn good MS. Though, it was tuned specifically for Amuro, whom required extreme sensitivity and response time from MS, that it was practically impossible for regular pilots to control.

Christina is actually not a pilot, she is a shoe-fitter who is responsible for the tuning.

0083 Dendrobium has to be one of the most OP MS/MA created that destroys the weapons development history that has been set in UC gundam chronology. Many of the specs, and new developments used in GP 01,2,4 (Gabera Tetra) are linked with future development, but GP-03/Orchis just destroys the setting entirely. LoL

If you have forgotten where you took off at Zeta, you can just watch the 'New Translation' theatre version, which is in three part series. Ending is slightly different from the original, and it does not really continue to the ZZ, but it grasps the whole pretty well, and you can see the old and new animation techniques side by side.

Turn A has to be my favourite series, so if you have not seen it, it is highly recommended, though from your knowledge of gundam, you may have already seen it, and are just revisiting after some time.

I have Gundam Evolve 4 on my PC as well, it showcases the OPness of the 03. I swear that thing could take down anything in any other series. And its cool/weird folding arms.

Seed was fine, but Destiny was too much. Wing was not as good as the oldies, but it was the first to really be introduced to the Western world.

Anyway, Wing just annoyed the heck out of me, but not as much as the G Gundam. My gosh, I have a headache thinking about the times I forced myself to finish watching that series.

Also, did you watch the Turn A before? Or would this be the first time seeing it? As my previous post says, it is my favourite in the entire gundam history so far.

There are two different novels written by two different authors.

Anyway, If you want OP MS in the history of Gundam, Turn A has to be it.

In one of the novel, Turn A actually is supposed to be a mass production model. Not even of proto-type/one-off/final version. It can also replicate ANY weapon existed in the past using the nano-machine. If you remember the scene in Anime, where Turn A goes underground using some sort of elevator system which contains weapon deposit, you would notice that as the weapons break apart, due to the old age, it becomes nano-machine like sand. Tomino was thinking about adding this setting in the main story, but instead left it out. Though, the concept can still be seen in the episode's title screen where you see Turn A's hands meet together to create some light.

Joints are moved by fixating I-Field, and by transitioning the position, it moves the MS. So if in full potential it is walking I-Field generator, which produces I-Field-Barrier that can withstand kinetic rounds.

The nano-machine spread distance is from Jupitar to Earth, according to novel.

It also copies the pilot's data, and if the MS is vaporized, as long as there is a group of nano-machines alive, it will regenerate MS including the pilot over time, no matter how long it takes.

I didn't much get the story behind the Turn X. Created by humans(?) outside the solar system, crashed on Earth, humans then got shit fucking scared of how powerful it is, churns the Turn A out, THEN they reduce humanity to the dark ages (again?).

That would mean that after the Turn X'es construction, humans on Earth and the Moon revert once to a level before, then get advanced enough to replicate the Turn X, then revert AGAIN to discover the ancient Turn X and Turn A.

Turn X's creation is supposed to be shrouded in mystery.

The best theory thus far is

It is thought to be created by the NewTypes, who has left the solar system after the end of UC era. Those who stayed behind in solar system discovers Turn X that drifted through the space.

By the time it was discovered, the existence of NewType was widely forgotten by Earth bounders, and they were afraid that these outside Aliens were going to come to invade them. So they replicated Turn X, and made Turn A. In the novel, they mass produce Turn A, which had far better potential than the one seen in Anime.

Later, the people were divided once again into those who seeks advancement of humanity through exploitation of natural resources and Earth, while the other argued the rebirth of Char's "Let Earth Rest". To reduce the already experienced mass destruction of human population, they elect to let Turn A and X fight each other to see who's side is to step forward with the argument. Which side A and X belongs to is mystery, but from the context, Turn A seems to be on the side of exploiters.

However, when Turn A and X fight each other, nano-machine spreader "Moonlight Butterfly", overloads and destroys civilization.

And the history repeats over and over again until Turn A series.

Though, whether the current Moon Race is the survivors of the original generation on Moon, or the descendent of Earth revisiting the moon during Dark History, is a mystery. Anway, Moon race, survives the devastating impact of last fight, and puts any data of the previous history as part of Dark History, and makes it a taboo to look into the past.

So there have been a shitload of resets.
