Capcom has listened to fan feedback following Resident Evil 6 and knows that the series must return to its roots going forward, even mentioning the possibility of a reboot.

These comments come from Capcom’s Masachika Kawata, a long-term producer on the iconic survival horror series who spoke to IGN in London while discussing his latest project -- bringing last year’s Nintendo 3DS title Resident Evil: Revelations to Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 3 and PC.

A reboot?

No......

They shouldn't just become like Nintendo/Square Enix/Activision/EA and make a million games of the same series like they have. They should just get rid of the RE series, and start anew; I wish people would stop milking the game series these days for all they're worth until everybody hates the game.

I could do without another RE

They have ruined the series now

A new idea would be great

they really fucked up by killing off Wesker in 5 I thought.......

even the whole plot of 5 was kinda bleh, but still better than 6.

They could have made 1 awesome story instead of 3-4 eh ones

We need a new fucking Outbreak is what we need...

I wouldn't mind a total reboot of the series, though a new idea would be preferable. So long as I get a new survival horror game that doesn't suck

If they reboot....they need to completely rewrtie the series. None f this las plagas stuff. stick to raccoon city style outbreak

MEGA MILK

MEGA MILK

They should let it die, it had a good run

That and Dead Space just outclasses in every way, it's pointless to even try to compete.

Adding on to what I said...A complete overhaul would be needed

I think think they saturated the releases at all actually....it's just that re6 sucked and raccoon city was a disappointment (very short) ,that raccoon city was so fun on team deathmatch mode though with some friends.....good times,I want to get it again

Resident Evil 6 Fails to Match Capcom Expectations

Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil 6 failed to meet the publisher’s expectations. Although the action horror title surpassed 4.8 million in sales, it fell short of its 7 million target.

"In the Digital Contents business, which constitutes our core competence, the flagship title Resident Evil 6 (for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), despite recording brisk sales when it debuted, subsequently lost its momentum, resulting in the failure to achieve planned sales and fulfil its role as a driver of sales expansion," Capcom told investors in its Q3 2013 results.

It’s worth noting that continued strong sales folowing a game’s release is usually attributed to good word of mouth and post-release support. Resident Evil 6 may have enjoyed the latter, but not the former.

Elsewhere it’s good news for Capcom, with sales up 39.2 per cent during the last three months of the calendar year, hitting 48.7 billion Yen ($537,966,000, £342,000,000). Likewise, the company’s year-on-year income after expenditure rose 45.9 per cent to 9.8 billion yen ($106,192,799, £67,600,000).
