Just started playing the Mega Man series

Mega Man 9 and 10 came free with PS+ so I figured I would try them out. I got hooked and got the Anniversary Collection that has 1-8 on it.

I'm currently on MM3 and holy shit these games are amazing.

I beat Megaman 2 way back on the original gameboy,never played any others though. Think I rented one of the ones on SNES,starts you off in some canyon area outside,was hard as hell

Megaman is like my favorite game series ever. The controls are tight and the music is badass.

I-IV is pure gold.
V and VI are kinda meh for me.
VII was ok.
the rest I haven't played.

III is probably my fave since that's the one I played most as a kid. I could beat that game blindfolded it's so burned into my brain.

Yeah I'm planning on getting the X collection after I beat the first 8. I hear the quality of the X series takes a nosedive at a point though.

are the battle network ones on gba crap? they always seemed like a knock-off of pokemon from what I read but never played any,think they made like 7 lol

Yeah the series was supposed to end with X5. It had a logical conclusion but capcom wanted to keep milking the cashcow so they just kept making them with some storyline shinaniganry to keep the series going.

For me it nosedived when they went 32bit but I've heard that X4 and X5 are quite good as well.

Never played them so I don't know there's also the Megaman Zero and Zero X series on GBA but those don't really look that great either.

My friend loved the Battle Network games. I never played them, but I'd say they're worth a shot based on that.

The X series was the best. But pretty well all of the MM games were fun. They were always challenging and well designed.

Yeah like I said I never tried it but Megaman should be an action platformer and that's all there is to it... Battle Network seems weird.

I haven't...the story seems weird and not to my liking though the gameplay is action platformer in style it's just not really classic Megaman and/or X gameplay.

They made a bunch of games though so it can't be completely terrible. They don't appeal to me any way but they might be worth trying for you though.
