I kinda want to get it on pc to do the hi res texture mod but then again I don't want to have to start all over.....damn game took me like 60 hours I think.

Okay, I posted this on GFaqs, but got no love, so im just copying/[asting.

Well I finally managed to get to the next bonfire(not the one behind the bridge dragon, the blacksmith one) a few hours ago before I stopped playing for the day.

Managed to beat the Bell Gargoyles.

But I am having a really hard time progressing anywhere. I am still using the basic armor I got from the first location in the game, like knights armor or something like that. And have mostly been sticking to using the Broadsword that I upgraded twice.

Can anyone recommend me some better armor, or weapons that are far better then what I am using, cause I am doing like no more then 15-20 damage on most enemies with normal attacks.

I have gotten better at fighting and can go much further without having to heal, and have really improved at parrying. But its still proving to be too difficult.

I did finally cave in and get the Drake sword, but I rarely use it, as I don't want to begin to rely on it and then get worse when it starts to not be usefull anymore.

Where the heck should I go now? And anyone got any tips for killing that damned dragon on the bridge?
Sometimes I can get him to land, and hack at his feet for a few seconds before having to run down stairrs when he starts to fly or moves to the other side of the bridge. But sometimes I cant as he does this one-hit kill fire blast. Though sometimes I can barely get hit by it, and lose all my health, or get caught in the middle and lose a quater.

Upgrade your sword to +5.

Armor doesn't matter much in the long run, you're going to get more out of increasing vitality.

Don't bother with the bridge dragon, there's no point.

You can use the Drake Sword just fine, as long as you remember to keep your other main weapon up to date. You don't want to be stuck with a +5 when the Drake Sword becomes useless.

Your next objective is the Lower Undead Burg, you should have a key from the Parish. Go to where you beat the Taurus Demon, or actually where you meet Solaire, and there should be a door there.

Have fun fighting the Capra Demon.

by the time the drake sword starts becoming useless you'll be able to get the lightning spear Razz

yea have fun with the capra demon,it's not as hard as it first looks though Razz

I ditched armor and ran around with some red druid's looking cloth to help magic a little, but mostly for the fast movement

Riding strong weapons all through the game breaks the experience imo. It's much more satisfying to plunge the blade you've used your whole journey into the final boss.

I almost beat the Capra demon the first time, like he had a sliver of health left. Then the next 4 times he killed me in mere seconds as I was distracted with those damn dogs.

So far he was the only boss I had to summon help for. He basically oneshotted my summon, but that gave me long enough time to kill the dogs then wail on him.

Also how do you upgrade your weapons past +5? Cause I have a +5 Claymore right now.

Immediately after the Capra Demon, you get the Depths key, which opens a door near the stairs below the boss room. You will find the ember you need. Give it to Andre, and he will be able to change +5 weapons to +6, then you can continue upgrading from +6 to +10. You will need Large Titanite shards though, and they are kind of a pain to get at this point, unless you have a bit of pyromancy or a lot of firebombs and patience.

I agree. I didn't use the Drake sword (didn't even know about it because checking FAQ's is cheating in my book)

And have nearly all the same armor and the upgraded sword I started the game with.

oh yea, picking a useful item is cheating too.

Haha, that is pretty funny. Anyways in dark souls I realized just how OP a two handed claymore is. I was able to solo both the four kings and seath with it (with the help of havel's armor on four kings). I can't wait to do the dlc, it looks really fun.

The claymore is actually rather weak compared to other greatswords and ultragreatswords. Try the Zweihander, you won't be disappointed.

If you are going STR or don't care about moveset maybe.

Clay is still top tier due to combo prcos and range. Zwei has range, but the overhand is too predictable, and the swings can be parried if the user is inexperienced.

As for PVE, Clay is still more useful at 27/40.

I mean, if you're going to spec that far into dex, you may as well use a dex weapon.

Zweihander/Greatsword is also a quality 27/40 weapon, as are most straights and many of the greatsword class. If you wanted a weapon that is actually a good STR weapon, you get MSGS or a GH type weapon. You could possibly also add in the GA types or DGM, but the only combo the regular GA has is straight R1s which have been nerfed, and the DGM is too slow to stagger consistently, but great for burst damage with a full STR build.

And why pick a DEX weapon when you have 27/40 or 40/40? You get the most damage out of dual scaling weapons.
