http://use.opendns.com/ my speed went from 40kb to 1mb, average is like 700,steam goes about 600kb for me

you could also try google dns

remember to flush your dns cache in command prompt

ipconfig/flushdns

Never honestly had speed issues with origin. It is usually faster than steam for me.
