[FO:NV] Getting this game soon.

I am going to drop by GameStop sooner or later today, and ask if they still have the pre-order coupons left for the game yet.

If they do, and are willing to give me one, I will get it there, if not I will get it from Amazon.com.

Anyway, how much love will "I give to this game? I liked the FO3, but did not love it.

Some of the changes really makes me happy, without playing, such as ADS.

If you liked FO3 then you'll love this.

Major improvements over just about everything.

The game is quite similar to FO:3, but the writing is much better. It also has much more to with the rest of the series than FO:3 did. Hardcore mode is the coolest thing ever though, if you thought FO:3 was too easy, then Hardcore will fix that for you.

The only real difference between this and FO3 are just minor tweeks (ADS namely), so you will probably like it just as much as 3.

Is Hardcore mode a must-try? Or should I just play in normal and come back for HC later?

It was a must try for me and I love it even though it can be quite unforgiving sometimes.

I would say so, I don't think I'll ever play FO:NV in normal. BTW weapons also have strength requirements.

Also, Special stats effect more than just your skills. For example - if you play a low intelligence character SPECIAL stat = 1, you will have much fewer speech options as a result of your low intelligence.

yeah I guess I haven't got deep enough to start with to much of that stuff, which reminds me I need to do that stuff.

I would go with hardcore mode stormy. It doesn't make it that much harder, but having to eat, drink and sleep kinda makes it more real.

This game so far is fun, going into primm get shot once and I get angry at the people and rape them all. Walk into the Vince and thingys casino walk in the bank steal almost everything like my nifty new sub machine gun <3.

You should try hardcore mode, either first or second. I prefer to go on through the game on normal mode but can't be bothered to try hardcore.

I guess I will just start off with HC mode.

There is more to this game than just "minor tweeks". There are major improvements in this game, and to me it feels like a different game than Fallout 3. The Mojave is so much better than the Capitol Wasteland, and many changes were made to make the game more challenging, and stats actually matter in this game. The story is and writing is better. The guns in Fallout 3 weren't really fun for me to use, and the sounds annoyed me, but the guns in this game are more varied and fun to use and sound great. You are no longer forced to join a faction like in Fallout 3 and you get to choose which one to join. There are way more quests in this game, too.

Yeah, one thing that bugged me in FO:3, was that an evil character couldn't join the Enclave, that would have been awesome.

As far as I know, you can join Caesar's Legion.

So. Now I need some advice on what I am trying to create. I still do not have the game yet, but I am planning to do similar so hear me out.

I have made a character with super balanced at everything with slightly higher intelligence and combat. But he did not excel in anything.

Is this a good way to go with the new game? Or should I switch something up and be at best with something?

I go with high intelegence, low luck and charisma, and balenced everything else.

In this game you will not get enough points to max out everything, especially now that you get a perk every other level now. I would recommend deciding what you want to do with your character before you make it, otherwise your character will be all over the place and not really good at anything.

Not to say you couldn't beat the game doing that, but it would be pretty difficult IMO.

Is there a reset during the game? Or are you stuck with your choices?

Don't have low Luck. Luck is arguably the best SPECIAL skill. Have it at at least 6 or 7.

When you stray too far from the first town, it gives you the choice to redo your stats.

I dunno, every point in luck is an extra 1% chance to crit, add in the finesse perk, and a high luck around 7 is +12% crit chance. With better crits and sneak attacks you will kill a lot if things with one hit.

So... There is a place I need to go for a stat reset? Or is it a mission?

You start the game in a town, but when you walk a certain distance away from it, you get the choice to reset your stats. There is a quest to do in the town, so it gives you time to test out you character.

Oh, so it is only available in the beginning, and it is permanently set after that, I suppose.

Why do you care so much about a pre order code? Most of the items become obsolete anyway. I preordered from Amazon, and they didn't give me a code, and I did just fine without it.

Meh, if I can get it, I get it. I am kind of a sucker for exclusive stuff, perhaps an Asian'ness in me. LoL
